The irony here is that the movie robots all end up with "humanoid faces" so to convey emotions. (eyes, mouths, noses, eyebrows, etc. in one form or another... even if not directly, they will have parts to mimic those to make them more relatable)

Why would they need moving mouths and eyes when those are lenses and speakers, etc. I prefer the shielded faces/mouths because of this (by a huge lot), I'm just not a fan of the human faces thing, let alone those that "move" to mimic humans.

More so in Age of Extinction and The Last Knight than in 07-DOTM especially with regards to the Decepticons.

I actually love his proportions, I like how anime-esque the long legs make him look.

I think if they're gonna go for different and wild proportions, they need to go all the way. Slightly different just looks like they made a mistake going for "normal" rather than them wanting it this exact way. Bay Prime has a real squat torso and legs for days, that's intentional. Earthrise Prime has slightly too short biceps, that doesnt feel as intentional, more of a compromise

I do agree that ER Optimus should have had longer arms, and a few years ago he would probably been with telescoping arms sections, but now, whatever is the cheaper approach will do.

We didn't have G1 accurate things even when the show began in 84. Meaning we haven't gotten G1 accurate mass release toys in nearly 40 years.

There were books that had the characters drawn exactly like the original toys. And I'd rather have my G1 Masterpieces be inspired by the original toys than have them be accurate to the animation models loosely derived from the original toys. The G1 cartoon was a wildly inconsistent mess of a show where they had so many characters that only a small fraction of the cast was able to have full personalities.

There were also books that were drawn in the toy style. I've still got a choose-your-own-adventure that is purely done in the toy style.

But regardless of that, books aren't the same as toys. I wanted to play with the cartoon models, not just read about them.

That's great. And you did get many masterpieces that did that. MP10 is still one of the truest definitions of a Masterpiece. I love that figure. But I also love MP44 and how much it looks just like the cartoon. Show-accurate fans waited 34+ figures for that.

There's no need to attack a show so many of us love. I'm not saying we should only have G1 for the rest of time or that all other versions are terrible. My point is that it's ok for fans who've wanted cartoon accurate toys to have a turn after 40 years. There's nothing wrong with that. That's what's great about the transformers franchise. It's cyclical and other versions will always be coming up. It's ok to wait if these figures aren't your taste.

I prefer having racecar modes have all of the sponsor decals and numeration that are present on actual real-life racecars. I also prefer having emergency vehicle modes have all of the emergency text, numeration, and badges that are present on actual real-life emergency vehicles. And I prefer having military vehicle modes have all of the safety text, numerations, ID numbers, and badges that are present on real-life military vehicles.

G1 is not solely Sunbow. The toys are ultimately the source material, not the cartoon, and the toys cannot logically be inaccurate to themselves. The G1 toys weren't inaccurate, the show was.

Not to mention, the show wasn't even the first adaptation, the Marvel comic was. So you're saying the toys (the source material) were inaccurate to the version that came third?

I for one, will be glad when the demand for "G1 Toon accuracy " has run its course.

True, but for a lot of kids, the show was their first real exposure. Not all of us could afford to buy them, but we could watch them on tv at no extra charge.

That's a good way to put it. And yes, I am saying they're inaccurate to the version that came out third, but was easily the most popular. Which is fine. Ironman isn't accurate to the original version. Neither are Batman or Superman. The most iconic image of Blade isn't his comic book version, but Wesley Snipe.

My point is that it's ok for those us who wanted cartoon accurate toys to actually have them after 40 years.
