I love that figure. He's been hanging out on my shelf for ages.

I don’t really dislike the exclusives. Obviously it can suck but as long as distribution got better, and it was available worldwide not just North America, all it would mean was more figures per year.

Posting a cursed opinion on a cursed page of the thread:

Toys based on the G1 cartoon are better than other toys because G1 character designs were pretty timeless and superior to any of the half-hearted attempted reboots. TFP, Animated, Armada, Cyberverse. Sure, they have things going for them, but by and large their toys are all crap.

I think animated and prime had some solid toys. I think it cyberverse toys were better than they’d be great as well.

Tbh with what I’ve seen of the quality I don’t think anything needs to be done in R.E.D lmao. At least not until they are of good quality.

RED was made for Alpha Trion. It's a shame it hasn't happened yet.

Super Seven is, so maybe they don't want to compete.

RED was made as another throwaway line in leu of Botshots, Tiny Turbo Changers, etc. It was never meant to do obscure characters, just ancillary product besides the main lines by Hasbro that they’ve always had.

I see RED as similar to the line this guy on the left came from:

Squirt out some plastic vaguely shaped like Optimus Prime and it will transform into money. Ez.

Thats more or less what it is, though with RED seems to be trying to tap into the mainstream “Collector” market that popped up in recent years. Not us hardcores collectors, Pop-like collectors who just buy mainstream stuff because being a nerd is “cool” these days.

Exactly. And honestly, I have very low interest or tolerance for "Transformers" products that don't transform. But I will admit, my boy enjoys that shitty $7 optimus dweeb. But honestly, Cyber Battalion figures are his real jam. I hope they make some more of them. The balance between price, durability, and complexity is just

    Ahh, not really.

I don't have much of the TFP, Animated, or Cyberverse figures (So I can't comment much about them), but that's not the case with the Unicron Trilogy toys.

I'll be honest, as much flak as most of the UT toys got back when they came out... I would actually rather play and fiddle around with the more simplistic UT-era toys over most RID2001, MP or ROTF toys. The RID2001 or ROTF toys, in general, was amazing for collectors, but from the perspective of younger kids who just want to have fun playing with their toys.... those toys were honestly awful and tedious to play with; They're over-complicated, fiddly, and difficult to stand and pose well.

Most of the UT toys may not be incredibly well-articulated, have intrusive gimmicks, or looks kinda "eh" aesthetic-wise by modern standards, but there's a certain heft and solidness in these Unicron Trilogy toys that you won't feel in some of the more modern figures, which I do consider as much of a loss as the gain.

For example, just compare a figure like Cybertron Hot Shot, with all its gimmicks, paint apps, build quality, and attention to detail to any Deluxe-class figures from recent years like Earthrise Bluestreak; which may have all of the articulation your average TF collectors wants, but it's also a pretty small, hollow, and light feeling figure that you can't be too rough with it. While that wasn't usually a bad thing per se, but there's just a "They didn't make toys like these anymore" heft and value to these UT era toys that weren't easy to describe, but becomes apparent when you own any of these UT era toys in-person.

Pulse has actually just put some up on their site, and if you want that Shockwave, I have him and will sell him to you for a fair price.

This is the greatest Transformer of all time!

Ok, then let's really blow things up...

Optimus should always come with a trailer.

I have Shockwave, Sideswipe, and Jetfire. I will eventually grab Prowl off the nearby Walgreens shelves where he's languishing. He loves 'em all, but he won't stop taking Jetfire's arms off, lol. I also had to put the arm cannon from Shockwave away because he was chewing on it and I didn't want him to swallow it by mistake.

Even more cursed opinion: SS86 Wheelie is a really excellent figure and has brought a lot of joy into my household. Limitations notwithstanding he is a better figure than Blurr, Arcee, and many of the Earthrise and Studio Series bayverse figures.
