DOTM was the worst movie I’ve seen in the entire series! The writing was god awful, most of the TF characters were horrible and barely in the film. The writer completely destroyed Sam’s character development. The girl who played Carly wasn’t a very good actress. Megatron was underutilized is this movie and they cut out a lot of his character development.

The only things I really liked were Steve Jablonsky’s score, the CGI and VFX work was really good, and Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel Prime was a pretty good antagonist. But other than that I absolutely hate this movie.

Ironhide not using guns and just beating the shit out of people is surprisingly in-character.

 

AOE would've been better without KSI. Idk if thats controversal, but i dont see it talked about much. Fuck KSI

 

If you like DOTM more power to you, but I just really hate this movie. There’s just to many problems with it that just frustrate me to no end.

 

Unicron is not interesting idea for the movies and I am tired of fans (especially movieverse-only fans) wanting him like Christmas gift.

 

the invasion scene in dotm is among the best representations of an invasion I've seen in movies.

 

I mean have we really even gotten him with the arm cannons outside of the movies that many times? I’m pretty sure every G1-Bayverse hybrid Ironhide design that we’ve seen has been unused concept art. He hasn’t really been in anything besides comics in a very long time, arm cannons or not.

 

Yeah him not really showing up in anything since the comics or DOTM is another personal gripe of mine. But what I meant is all the fan art and concepts, as you mentioned, including the cannons. And anytime I see one without cannons, I often see people saying he needs cannons. I don’t have a big problem with them, yet I don’t see anything wrong with him not having them, as opposed to some who mainly prefer the film version over all other takes on Ironhide.

 

I can see how that can be annoying to have everyone always say something like that. I like the cannons, but I think he also looks fine without them. Unlike other Bayverse design traits, the cannons don't really replace or overwrite anything on the G1 version, so I don't mind them at all.

There are other Bayverse design elements that I actively dislike that people seemingly always want to shove into every design, like Camaro Bumblebee or maskless Optimus Prime. Those are a bit different, since unlike Ironhide's cannons, these things have made their way into other media and don't seem to be going away anytime soon.

 

To be fair this wasn’t at all something created by Bayverse (even when excluding Primal since he’s a separate character). Machine Wars, UT, and Marvel Comics had done it already.

 

I actually don’t mind the maskless Optimus Prime. The best version of the maskless Optimus was TF Cybertron, we’re it looks similar to Optimus Primal.

 

I liked how Bay chugged tradition with a lot of the color choices for his robots. Ratchet in green, Soundwave in silver, Ironhide in black, Mirage in red. Wow.

 

Mirage in red is one reason why I really want a red coloured Generations Selects redeco of Siege Mirage- because Mirage was red in not only Bayverse but also pre-Transformers Diaclone line.

 

I don't really hate Sam's parents. I guess because they kind of remind me of mine.

 

Mirage being a Porsche is perfectly fine and I'm getting tired of people acting like Jazz is the only character that's allowed to be a Porsche. Also, having holograms as his signature ability fits the name "Mirage" better than invisibility.

 

Ah, yes the good old “they’re bad guys and they deserved to be mercilessly slaughtered” argument. It’s not like that argument never gets old and trust me I truly understand that the Decepticons are the villains and they need to be stopped, but making yourself just as ruthless as they are doesn’t make you any better.

 

Here’s an unpopular opinion. Megatron deserved better character development than what he got in the actual movies. I’d also wish they would’ve put some of the TF character traits from the IDW movie comics into the actual movies. Also the movie comics were the best stuff to come out of IDW!

 

I know right! Why does Optimus Prime need to be like Doomguy to begin with? Not only are they completely different characters, but they’re also completely different genre archetypes.

 

Was just somehow convinced by polygon that the movies are an Optimus Prime villain origin story, and it is now canon in my mind.
