I was talking about the first two movies. I probably should've said that so my bad.

 

Planned Obsolescence and Consumerism.

 

It did seem like it was planned at 1 point. Given the size, could’ve had a fiddly connection.

 

But the Volkswagen Bee was able to do it, why didn’t they just reuse that tooling?

 

So now hasbro is following the mcfarlane business model of reissuing the same body with variant heads? Seriously? Wtf is everyone reverting to the 90’s ?

Honestly this toy interested me so little I completely forgot it had an unmasked head. But it just again reminds me how unfortunate it was that the Bee movie redesigned basically everyone, but left Bee with the dumb fuel tank cap mouth. He just looks so off from the G1-like other Autobots who have proper faces or faceplates, like he was from a different universe.

 

Yeah, it was a placeholder name but then I realized that you couldn't change your name.

I saw the masked version at Meijer last week, and almost bought it. I'm glad I didn't, I'll wait for this version.

 

I still hope we get a new, more accurate Beetle Bee retooled from this. (or a new mould, always down for new moulds)

 

I’m reaching BB saturation point but I might make exception for this version.

 

I honestly think Bee made out great design-wise in that movie. His expressive eyes did a lot of the talking for him. Besides, while faceplated Autobots like Prime and Wheeljack were fine, I thought most of the "regular face" Autobots like Ratchet, Arcee and Cliffjumper really needed a lot of work.

Anyway, as far as this toy goes, I'm so glad I never got the original. The colors on this look superb. I'm very tempted to get him. I guess they wanted a Bee on shelves with his teammates.

 

Ah, yet another Bumblebee rerelease with minor tweaks. Hasbro will do anything but make new bayverse characters, huh?

At least we got a good Jolt.

Oh and their attempt at Mirage I guess.

 

We didn't, IMO. He's missing thigh swivels. Big no-no. And Mirage is awesome despite licensing issues

 

I hope so too cause it’s my favorite of his BBM designs and movie designs in general and that original VW Bee just isn’t accurate, looks out of place among other BBM figures and doesn’t really cut it anymore compared to the other BBM SS figures especially since they redid Shatter and Dropkick

 

This guys fanbase in a nutshell.

Whoah this looks really good!
The more muted yellow looks a lot more premium than the canary yellow of the previous release to me. They nailed the sculpt and paint of the unmasked head as well.

I love how reminiscent the vehicle mode is of the old WFC game design. Might just have to pick this up to pair him with my WFC Prime.
