Damn, this is the third time this week i've ended up with yet another version of this Treadshot mold. It was new to me when i bought Runamuck, but by now it's gotten really old......Magnus, however, i like. Anyway: Packaging: A. I almost kept this set MISB as the "car crash" pose it came in looks a lot cooler than most twin packs where the two enemies just look at each other Ultra Magnus: C+/B- too close to call. Just a retool of Armada Prime's bosy in white, but the arms are more flexible and poseable than Prime's, and he looks nice posed as i have him underneath an aloe plant waiting to ambush Undermine. However, the "double punch attack" minicon gimmick doesnt seem to work, and his stacks tend to fall off. Treadshot C-. This is the nicest paintjob on this mold i've seen, but a turd is a turd, no matter how shiny. I don't know how much more can be said about this mold that wasnt in the Runamuck thread, but a good thing is that the hidden-minicon spring load gimmick actually works in this version. Minicons: C. Basic minicons, nothing good or bad about them. Pick up this set if you don't have one of the molds, or as i said it is cool looking to display MISB. I regret opening mine, but considering the $7.99 Big Lots price its an ok pickup. Overall Value: B
i keep looking in my local big lots but they havent shown up yet. id pay 7 for this set instead of the 20 it originally came out in.
I am not a big fan of Treadshot, but I love Ultra Magnus. I didn't put him down for days after I got him. He is just too cool. Especially after you do the arm fix on him.
arm fix? how do i do this? will it make the minicon gimmick work? So far, when i attach the minicon and press down, as directed in the instructions, all that happens is a loud clicking noise and sometimes one of his smokestacks falls off.
The arm fix just makes it so his elbows bend the right way. You have to remove pins from his forearms and switch them around. It has nothing to do with the gimmick, but yours sounds like it's broken.
