Hey so I saw these old threads showing off blurry images of a mod where you supposedly are supposed to cut something in the figure before reassembling him, by @prime13 and @Superquad7. However, not only are the images nearly impossible to make out what he even cut, but the explanation was pretty vague. So I decided to try it myself, and I'm not sure if it's the same thing he did, but here are the previous threads about it:

So first, take the figure apart. I recommend popping the limbs off their ball joints to make this easier. Then, unscrew the three screws in the body (two on his right side, one on his left side.)

Now, first thing you want to do is take a look at the head. Opening it up reveals a very depressed ball joint who has waited for years for someone to free it so that it can do it's job. Let's give it some room to live by cutting a bit of the edges of the neck hole. Don't do too much though, since we don't want to ruin the socket.

(Side note: Painted red eyes over light-piping. Why?? XD)

Next we move to the piece that slides up and down the "shaft" in the chest that holds the head.

What we are going to do is cut the indent further down towards the bottom side, about as much as I show here:

Then on the backside of this piece, you will find three tabs that are there to stop the head from going too far out of the shaft. What you want to do is cut down he two side tabs a bit, and shave off the one on the back completely.

While you're at it, go under the piece and you will find a screw that holds the ball joint onto the body. (Such a weird design choice... most ball joints are just made on the plastic itself, as one piece.) Now, loosen the screw ever so slightly,so that the ball joint raises from the base, but not enough to where it moves whenever you twist it. (Do not twist it too hard!)

Now on the shaft itself, you need to cut a bit of the top of the ridge area circled here, so that the head piece can go further up even more.

Then go to the inside of the shaft, and file down the extra plastic that sticks out inward, so that it does not get in the way.

Finally, reassemble the figure, and enjoy!!

And it does not affect the transformation!

OPTIONAL: If at the end of this you feel as though it is too loose when it goes up and down the shaft, then rub a tiny bit of glue or floor polish on the sides, leave it to dry, then reassemble it, and that should help!

Lemme know what you guys think!!

I love how you are going back and "updating" these old tutorials. It's both nostalgic and a reminder of all the little things I havent done yet.

Yeah man! And I'm getting even more prepped and ready to share! I even plan on making one LARGE thread with a list of pretty much every figure fix/mod that is avaliable. since some of these are staggeringly hard to find!

Great work, dude. I'll add your notes here to the main article. It's been so long since I've done this, I certainly didn't remember what I did to mine!
