So I read that someone had done this and I looked at the legs and made them swappable. I had to clear out the stops in the legs so that they can be pulled off and swapped over. I also added the gun from Universe Dropshot. The brown matches very well. before after
i'm sorry but i have always found that mod idiotic. pulling off the legs to transform a toy defeats the purpose of a transformer unless it's a duocon or omega supreme
I don't think it's idiotic, even if I don't want to do it myself. Anyway. He does look a little nicer this way, but shame on him losing all those missiles this way. Personally, I'd rather devise a waist joint, then you could simply twist him on it to get this look, AND you'd have more articulation to boot. Oh, and no parts-forming
Agreed. I do find that I really like the way the feet look reversed. It looks good. More armoured and heavy duty, even if you lose the forward facing rocket launchers. I'm just a fascist when it comes to parts-forming. Plus this mold could really use more articulation. It's such a great design, stiffly executed. zmog
There's *just* enough room to pull off the waist joint. There won't be enough room for the stock hip joints - you'll need to shove some ball posts in there and drill a hole into each thigh to act as the socket. A chunk of the green crotch armor will also have to be cut off. I sort of grew impatient when I was working this out and drilled the thigh holes too big. Poor guy's too floppy to make any good poses. ^^; I'll see if I can get pictures up tomorrow morning?
It was me redline, in addition to trimming I added magnets to lock his legs in place when it bot mode. the thread is still floating around here. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/210131-universe-roadbuster-leg-swap-how.html
I used a soldering iron to make the divots in the legs. If you analyze how the leg slides and locks in place both in extended and collapsed positions, you will see that the thighs have a spring tension peg that locks into indentations. But if you swap the legs, the peg is on the wrong side. so I just lined up the indentations and dragged the tip of my soldering iron across the plastic to make a matching set. trimmed the excess plastic. Then done!!! so now my roadbuster thighs slide and LOCK in place in both modes. With regards to losing the missile launcers, I disagree. now he can be rocket propelled while running or jumping haha.
I reversed them a while back on mine, but I didn't carve anything out (although I cannot transform him into vehicle mode anymore). I think it looks a lot better when in the classic line with them backwards, and I never transform him from bot mode, so the fact that he can't transform anymore doesn't bother me, but to each his own. I just hope that my name gets called by nanobot.
Yeah I tried that too at first. but it bugged me that i cant transform him. I want the nanobot upgrade kit too.
