I recently moved and was fiddling with my Classics Prowl, and noticed that the rooftop where there is the white paint was substantially browning(with never having been exposed to a substantial amount of sunlight) and that the paint is starting to, what looks like eat away at itself. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if this is part of the sticky paint people where talking about when he was first released? his paint wasn't any different to the touch when I got him.

That's the problem with paint on clear plastic. My Prowl looks horrible, Bluestreak's got a line down one door, and my first classics Prime...well let's just say I got a bit too transformation/play-happy with him and now he's got a mono-pane windshield, an all-red top, and no yellow left.

I'm afraid to touch my Prowl because of the paint.

the early prowls had bad paint. There are later ones that don't have that problem, you can only tell by looking for a shine on the paint. if it's not shiny, it's going to get tacky.

That's weird, because he was fine the last time I looked at him, is there any way to tell if I were to try and order one online if it were from the later ones? Probably not, and does the Japanese version have the same problems?

Henkei version has the same problem.

Only way to tell is to look for the shiny paint. TF date codes are on the figure now, instead of the box, so that won't help. You'd have to have the seller look through the bubble for you.

My brother in law has one with shiny paint, and it still looks great. I don't, and it looks like shit.

you could put a topcoat on a sticky-paint prowl. that would certainly fix it.

Later runs of Henkei Prowl apparently fixed the problem, too. At least, I've got a non-sticky Henkei.

Hmmm... My Henkei Prowl seems ok too. Maybe I just got lucky.

I just bought a Prowl off HTS, only had it for a week, transformed it twice, and the paint's got a slight tackiness and is uneven on the roof. Thankfully, the doors still look fine, so it's fine on the shelf.

Thank GOD that Rapido doesn't have that problem.

Mine is nasty looking too. The doors are pretty much brown at this point. Also- My Universe Ironhide is the same way on the windshild peice. The paint actually sticks to you like glue.

Yea, my Ironhide was even more tacky than Prowl. Both just sit on the shelf now, never to be touched again.
