I finally bought this yesterday, but only because it was $9.99 at a local discount store. Which considering the price of 1 deluxe now ($12!), 2 for $10 ain't bad. Anyway, boy they actually suck a tad more than I thought they did. Megs is OK, but his gun arm is kinda crappy too. If they had forgone the stupid "spinning" gimmick, and had his "elbow" been somewhat more realistically placed then I wouldn't be bothered by the lack of a right hand. Also, I'm pretty sure his feet were assembled backwards, but that I can fix easily of course. Prime is... ehhh. His robot mode actually looks pretty good and I'm glad because he will NEVER be put into truck mode again, it's pointless it sucks so bad! But in bot mode I think he looks pretty good... the bigger eyes don't even bother me, they look fine IMHO. The only thing I'm curious about is this... I could sware I remember reading something about a way to keep Prime from loosely spinning at the waist when in bot mode somewhere on these boards, but after looking all morning I've found nothing. I think it was something built into the toy itself, not a modification, but I cannot find anything on him that does any such thing. Anyone remember the deal?
Pull the button that activates the "punching" gimmick. If pulled far enough, it should click into place and disable the spinning.
You can give Megatron a giant claw arm if flip the grey blaster and the claw tips a specific way. They also both have some of the most realistic handguns to ever come from a TF. I like this prime's alt mode a bit better if you put the transformed tommy gun backwards so it faces the front of the cab instead of behind it. Then put a legends figure on the back to take the gunner seat.
"pull the lever" I love it! Thanks OR1on and Chosen! Thank you too Grimwing for the Megs suggestion... I'll see how that looks. And I agree that the handheld weapons are indeed awesome... I think that like some others have done, Primes gun will now go to Universe Hound.
Prime's gun just reminds me of 1920's gangsters. It's got the Scarface feel to it. One can almost visualize Prime just mowing down a horde of Decepticons with a fully automatic laser power Tommy gun.
Instead of getting the voyagers, I got this pack. I love both of them. Prime is an excellent representation of his G1 self, and Megatron is a great classics G2 Megs.
I agree Prime's truck mode sucks but I think the robot mode is one of the more articulated representations of G1 Prime. I acctually have one at my desk at work, and come to think of it I don't believe it has been in Truck mode since I got it.
I love that Prime in robot mode.....its too bad his legs dont collapse, the alt mode would at least be believable then
$10 two years ago (clearance at WalMart where I got mine), still $10. They must have made tons of these, I mean the 2-packs were put in retail, then dollar stores, then KB, probably saw International releases too.
while the set's not perfect, and the animated set, is probably WAY better, *don't know do not have it* lol it's still not that bad, i'm glad i own it. megatron could of used a second hand. but that's my only complaint there. and prime, yes his altermode is kind'a lame. but his robot mode is amazing. besides, he that gun he comes with alone, is worth the price... lol you could always give it to another bot, like i did, i gave it to my classics prime *voyager* *and will probably eventually give it to tfu hound if i ever get one*
