First Look at Universal Studios Beijing - Theme Park University
"Moving around the corner, it looks like Transformers: The Ride is not only going to be in Universal Studios Beijing but getting its own land. More importantly, if you’re wondering if The Hulk coaster from Islands of Adventure is in the background of the above image?" "Yes indeed, it looks as if they have taken a clone of the Hulk coaster and transformed it. Eh? See what I did there? But seriously, they don’t have the rights to Marvel characters beyond Islands of Adventure, so this makes sense."

Universal Beijing Resort Reveals New Details for Transformers Megabase, Minion Land, and More

Watch: Universal Beijing Resort Reveals New Details for Transformers Megabase, Minion Land, and More

Universal Beijing Resort today revealed some new details about plans for its upcoming theme park and hotels, including a video that showcases some concept art for the many themed lands, attractions, and more. Work began back in 2014 on the ambitious Chinese theme park, which is a joint venture that is 70% owned by Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. and 30% owned by Universal Parks & Resorts, and now it’s almost time to unveil the massive project to the public.

Akin to Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Beijing Resort encompasses a theme park, multiple hotels, and a Universal CityWalk hub, and this new video shows all of these off. The theme park is divided into seven distinct lands: Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers Metrobase, Minion Land, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, Hollywood, and Waterworld.

The all-new lands here that don’t exist anywhere else are Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers Metrobase, and Minion Land, and they each feature unique attractions as follows:

In Transformers Metrobase, the first entire Transformers land in the world exclusively built in Universal Beijing Resort, guests can choose to become “guest agents” and fight together with Autobots on thrilling rides like the Decepticoaster, the biggest and most exciting roller coaster in the Resort or the Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark, one of the most popular rides in the land or visit the Energon Power Station to “replenish energy” like a bot.

Transformers: Metrobase is the first Transformers themed land at a theme park, and will be part of Universal Studios' Beijing Resort when it opens. It will include a clone of Transformers: The Ride, a newly themed clone of the Incredible Hulk coaster, and probably a smaller attraction or two. Additionally, there will be plenty of Transformers theming. It appears Metrobase is a new Titan class 'bot.

They’ll have a hard time theming how evil the deceptions are without making them look like China’s glorious workers republic.

Seriously though, it looks ok. No chance in hell that I’ll visit, though.

On the one hand, I like the idea of a Transformers land and a Jurassic World Dark Ride sounds pretty neat. On the other hand though, most of the park just seems to be copying things that were already in other Universal Parks, presumably to create a sort of Magic Kingdom-styled template to copy-paste everywhere, and the fact that Chinese theme parks have had some unruly attendees (Not to mention the...complications of China in general) that I can't really see myself going out of my way to visit. Cool for those in China, but I kinda wish a Transformers land would end up in an American park (Maybe with the BB aesthetic?)

On the plus side, them including Metrobase as the Titan the land is based in continues modern theme parks trend of having an excessive amount of DEEP LORE

I live in Japan and USJ, like Disney, is just way to busy. If this is like Shanghai Disney , where there are extremely slow days still in existence , This might be my go to Universal park !

I've heard about this a while back. Sounds promising and it makes sense too since Transformers is still a big deal in China.

If this Metrobase goes well in Beijing, is there any hopes that we’ll get one here in America? Because that would be a dream come true.

    A Transformers themed amusement park?

Okay, cool. Also...how about amusement park ride Transformers scaled for micromasters?

Like a big Titan roller coaster or something...and then there's a ferris wheel and bumper cars and modular Battle Stations that turn into tilt-a-whirls etc.

I WILL BUY THIS HASBRO! You're running out of G1 Titans let's have some fun!

Depends on if the real estate is there for Epic Universe, Universal's third gate in Florida. However, I'd prefer, if we get a Transformers land here at all, that it be radically different, not only because the Bay films at large have basically been rejected by the American GP (general public) in favor of Bumblebee, but also because Florida has The Incredible Hulk Coaster, which Beijing is cloning for Metrobase.

Personally, I'd enjoy the idea of a Bumblebee-centric land subbing N.E.S.T. for Sector Seven, or a land based on the G1 cartoon, leaning into that art style and the campy, "anything can happen" story motif. Depends on if Universal's willing to go to that place to start with.

    It looks quite boring tbh
And I'm not saying that because it seems G1 based

Can't wait to see actual photos once this is constructed, but for me as a theme park aficionado it's likely not worth the trip. The Transformers Ride (an incredible ride) is installed at most other Universal Theme Parks and the roller coaster will be a reskin of the Incredible Hulk Coaster in Orlando, so there won't be anything truly new here other than the themeing of the land itself, which seems a bit generic future sci-fi from the looks of the concept art.

Still glad we've come this far, though - a theme park land is a big achievement!

Pay no attention to all of the Reflector clones spread throughout the park. They probably aren't enabling real-time facial recognition, broadcast by Soundwave back to the CCP.

No way. Bejiing and Dubai have the worst attractions. Very low budget too, with lots of screens. Something to do with both countries' economy, I think. Anyways, I'd love to see more transformers stuff at universal.

Before anyone gets too excited, Li Bingbing disappeared for several months under \"residential surveillance\" after pissing off the Chinese government, despite being one of the most famous women in all of China. Glad to see her back, but still sketchy.

Apparently in China several actors got narc'd on about submitting doctored (cooked) invoices showing very low pay....which got submitted to the gov for taxation purposes while the actor was paid 2 to 6 times what was documented.
