This is happening apparently. Universal Monsters to Get Shared Universe Not crazy about the writing team they've announced, but I'm down with the concept.
If this is handled half as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe it will be FANTASTIC. I wonder if Hellboy will show up. It's a pipe dream, I know.
Sounds like it can be fun. I hope the Creature from the Black Lagoon will be a part of it. What's also neat is that if you think about it the original Universal monster and horror movies did the whole shared universe thing before Marvel did it.
I wonder if they'll do the Marvel thing and give everyone their own movie before putting them together in the Van Helsing reboot. Apparently, Dracula Untold isn't part of it, but the Mummy reboot is.
Weren't they trying for this with The Wolfman a few years back? Maybe this time they'll put som effort into it.
They keep bringing them back. Bram Stoker's Dracula and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein were both Universal, as were the Mummy reboot and Van Helsing... This is just the first time since the original series(es?) they're actually bothering with an inter-continuity.
Didn't they do that with Van Helsing? The movie had Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Jekyll & Hyde, and Werewolves. No mummies but that was the closest thing to a modern gathering of Universal's monsters. Still, I'm interested in this one.
Looked it up, It's actually made by two smaller companies and distributed by Columbia. I always thought that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was a stylistic successor, but apparently it's just a giant ripoff.
Predict a movie line up 2016 The Mummy Van Helsing (introducing Dracula and The Wolfman) 2017 Creature From The Black Lagoon Frankenstein and Wolfman crossover 2018 The Invisible Man Van Helsing 2 (with all the monsters)
Not all of them were. Larry was a tragic character who was good hearted with a monster inside of him. There was nothing in him that makes him an antagonist. Of course, this being 2014, they will probably make him into some emo blood thirsty serial killer who cherishes being a wolf.
