What I really wanted was a UW Abominus to go with UW Computron... Sadly TT is just offering Hasbro. Oh... just the slightest re-tooling for monster knees, and Hungurr coming with a weapon... les sigh!

Not kidding, I would legit double dip on Abominus even if paint and a new weapon were the only differences.

Seems this thread never dies. I might as well ask: Who double-dipped on Computron? Did you get both versions?

I did, hence my comment about double dipping on Abominus. But of course the thread never dies, UW Computron is too good of a set to stop talking about.

I did. Then I mixed and matched versions to get my perfect Computron.

I did as well. Moldwise, Takara wins. But I love Hasbro’s toy colors better. I literally cannot choose between the two in the end and just hope one day there will be a rerelease of the Takara one in Hasbro colors...

You might as well also ask if anyone double-dipped and then mixed and matched, what the composition of their "ideal Computron" is, lol. Personally, I never mixed and matched, but that's me.

Hey, Bud, you seem to have a very exact idea of what you want for a Compy and, though a little different to my own, we share in common the preferred transformation for Afterburner's combined forearm so I thought I'd share this nifty easy mod for making the closed wheel look a bit more solid/less bland on the sides.
It turns out Construct-Bot ironhide's forearm guards are a near exact match for UW AB's colour, just cut alternate single pegs on each one down by about half and leave the other intact, and Voila!

It also beefs up the forearm a little too so he doesn't look quite so skinny in comparison to Strafe, plus the weapons are in a bit better position more clear of the bike cowling to boot!

I feel for full disclosure I should also add I tightened the ports they're in with nail polish so they wouldn't easily pop or sift out of position as I wanted them secured but non-permanently.

I did the same. The "leftover" was hardly useless. I sold it on eBay to recoup some of the investment!

    Here's the Computron I kept.

For CW/UW, All the classic combiner teams, I just did the UW version, I liked the added paint, details, and just overall more effort that TT put in. For my Hasbro display it is more 3P offerings filling those roles (of the FP/MT variety with UT Warlord servings as my Predaking).

For PotP Abominus, I am getting the PE upgrade set, and want to see what ToyHax has to offer, more for toon accuracy so he can go against UW Computron. I would love for PE to do a torso upgrade for Abominus too.

    Pretty much, yeah. :lol :

Really, I've got one displayed combined and the other as individuals, based on which versions I think look better in each mode.

lol You kept Afterburner and the hands and feet, that's hardly "mix and matching." I like it though, but it's hard to like Hasbro's lazy Strafe and Nosecone.

Got the CW version only for Scrounge, then was able to easily dump the set afterwards. UW-08 is my Computron, not some cosplay Superion with Combaticon and Protectobot limbs.

I dunno, CW Strafe was actually a very well-done retool in my opinion, and I liked how the figure can interact with Scrounge and Cybaxx.

Dreadwind makes a far better, and competent, Strafe and those unarticulated wings hampers movements/options with him. It's a huge sore spot and annoyance for me. As for Scrouge and Cybaxx, does that really matter? How many display them like that with Computron? I got the set for them and a quick fix with the PE kit since Takara's sold out pretty quick at the time. Scrouge is nowhere near Computron, he has nothing to do with the combiner

Dreadwind doesn't even look like Strafe and I don't have any issues with posing Strafe because of the wings either. As for Scrounge and Cybaxx, I actually happen to display my CW Computron with them attached to Strafe. And Scrounge now has a lot to do with Computron since Hasbro released him as a part of Computron and later produced fiction featuring Scrounge and Cybaxx as components of Computron.
