Very good. Looking forward to seeing the final result. What ink are you using? Are you painting with spray, sponge or paint gun?

Thanks guys! I've been dabbing Tamiya panel line accent color (Brown) on this guy using cotton buds.

    Truck mode done.

Very cool, congratulations for the work, waiting for pictures of him in robot mode. So using cotton swabs you don't need to disassemble anything from it, right? Is it too much to ask for a photo of the ink label to be able to buy one just like it? Do you use varnish after applying the paint? Thank you, it was fantastic! Congratulations!!

If you have ever seen a really old millitary vehical, one that still works and is used regularly, and have seen the paint job of said vehical, along will all the dirt, wear, rust, ect, this is what this figures paint job looks like: it's no where near as bright a green as some of the pics in this thread show. Honestly, if you think of him taking on an old, modified military vehical as an alt mode, the colors kinda fit, though I do wish there were more rust colors on him.

The robot mode is very movie accurate, and I love the bulk he has over Alien Attack's version. The fact that he's even taller make him even better IMO.

What he fails on against the Alien attack figure is his truck mode. The cab part looks awsome, but the trailer looks kinda...meh, in comparison. I also miss the light up headlight and sparking eye thet AA's figure has. AA's can be argued to have the better paint job as well, but I think thats a matter of opinion. Frankly, I like the weathered green look.

Transformation is not that hard. Like any other figure, if you get stuck somewhere, look it up on Youtube. He also feels more sturdy, and has a very nice heft to him.

Another thing that the UT figure has over the AA is the price. Deperado, while still pricey, is the less expensive option.

All in all, this guy may have jumped to the top of my favorite Megatron list. Looking back, it's kinda hard to believe that the designs of the Bay movies, which where hated at first, have, at least for me, become some of my favorite designs in the franchise. This figure inbodies that for me.

    Here's what I used.

I believe it can turn plastic brittle so I applied it very lightly.

    Robot mode done.

I wish this figure came with more/longer chains though. I haven't found a way to securely put the tarp/cloak on in truck mode.

Arrived. First impressions are that he is HEAVY. And complex. I really need to learn how to manipulate the joints cause it feels like whenever I want to move the ankles, elbows or shoulders they are bumping up against other things. The paint job looks awesome IRL. Definitely a much more drab military green. I’m gonna ink wash eventually just so that the cracks and crevices are filled, but I’m not mad about the color at all. I hate the ankles/lower legs. They’re not fun to manipulate and with the weight of the figure (one of the heaviest I’ve ever owned) they are difficult to get posed sometimes. From some angles the wheel on the inner ankle will literally make him roll away :lol  Like I said I think it’s just gonna be about learning how to manipulate the joints. The chains are annoying as hell but once I got them set up it looked so cool, especially with the cape. I’m not gonna attempt transformation yet. I can already feel that I wish UT had gone a little simpler, and maybe a bit less movie accurate if need be, cause there are a lot of parts that come untabbed since I don’t know how he’s supposed to move yet, but I’ll report back again once I get the hang of it. He looks SO GOOD though. This is one I’m probably gonna take a million pics of!

So, just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to attach the repair bots to Desperado's head? I looked on Youtube, and tried to figure them out myself, but I'm stumped.

I'm considering getting the clean version despite being inaccurate to the film. As odd as it may sound, I kinda prefer the clean look over the dirty look.

Edit: On second thought, I'll gonna go with the dirty look.

I got my clean version. I must say, it looks very, very clean. Still have to dress him up, so it'll probably get better. But I'm regretting it a tiny bit at the moment tbh.

I'm starting to get used to this guy, and I become more and more impressed with how good it looks! However, as with EVERY SINGLE UT FIGURE, the ankles kind of suck. There's just too much stuff in the way, and those inner wheels roll him out of some good poses. But I'm actually really impressed with the knee bend he can get, as well as that awesome ab crunch and thank god they did a double-jointed neck! Plus the giant claw hand looks so epic.

I did not know his feet could bend that far I was too nervous to try to bend them anymore

Perfect, now just add the little scalpels for a complete look.
