So I have him again.

I keep trying to move away from 3Ps but i forget just how GOOD this is. AoE is visually my favorite of the films and the Optimus design in that move is superb. I never thought I'd really see it properly depicted in toy form (though the TLK Voyager is a good effort). The fact that such a transformation is even possible is amazing.

I still have a couple of questions about him though-

*Is it possible to tell the different versions apart in any way? All I can recognize is that he's not the "battle-damage" version.

*I am a bit concerned about the shield peg; some paint has rubbed off from the back already and it was always a struggle to make that fit in the forearm peg. Is there any chemical that can be added to make the fit easier?

*Are there any 3d-printers still selling weapons for Challenger? He could use a blaster of some sort & I think it would be really nice to have a forearm blade (not the knife-tip thing he comes with; the same arm blades he had in the first 3 films & he tried to use against Galvatron).

 

Yes vinh.lee.3 on instagram and facebook has the head and chest (and is working on new hands too) and the shotgun as well. He usually includes a pair of brackets for the feet too, which makes a world of difference.

 

So dragoon is supposed to have an "updated" version of Prime's head, but is there a version of Challenger that has that head? I already have a Dragoon KO so I don't want to spend money getting another Dragoon for a better looking Optimus Prime.

All the challenger variants have it (teal, purple and battle damaged), as well as some of the later runs of the original.

 

Ah noted. So it's safe to say any Challenger online now that's not a variant is the later runs and the battle damaged version?

Also I posted it somewhere, but do you know about the Knight Optimus Prime movie model compared to the other figures out there with the side-by-side comparison? Been looking for that for a while.

God the UT vs TW choice is hard...

 

I have the 2nd release it has the new head only, without nemesis head. I think it is more gunmetallic painted than the original matching more to the new head paint.

Get them both . Choice is hard and there are coming the ut bmb ko, sts, at 2.0 versions too.

 

I say unique toys because It has great paint and transformation

I wish I had the money for both, and UT is looking mighty tempting, though I just got the 4th party BS-02 downsized Dragoon and hopefully the average UT isn't too big for him. Plus I think the lack of ankle tilt makes it all look awkward imo.

At this point when you have bs02 i would wait for the ut bmb ko version. Bs02 is smaller than utr3 but not so much.

If you go into a thread for a figure that came out a while ago then most likely only people who like the figure are gonna be in here so of course we're all going to tell you to get it. Sounds like you're just looking for validation for a decision you've already made, @The Mad Demobot . Or am I wrong?

 

I will buy the KO just to get that V2 head. I love my V1 figure so I will feel like I am cheating on it a little

 

I guess in the end I was hoping to get more comments from both TW and UT people and I think I just wanted to know how they compare.
But imo I think the size comparison to the KO dragoon, the paint app, and the range of motion is good enough for me to get the UT version.
