I think! But what I really wanted to show was that UT is still somewhat alive... I think!

 

Got the head and replacement upgrade kit. He thickened up the inner posts a LOT, so I'm excited for the extra stability, but I'm too lazy to paint a whole new torso AND head again, so it might be a couple days before this gets installed. New head is definitely more detailed and has a somewhat better range of motion (since it's on a ball joint), and the LEDs are gonna be exciting, but I'm worried about the material breaking for the thin antennae. I'm definitely gonna keep the V2 head around just in case...

Yea..gotta keep an eye out for any small pieces that can break easily. Hopefully my copy is as good as yours with no breakages lol

 

This figure's price has become more and more affordable - or tempting, however you want to phrase it - and I'm teetering on the fence about it. I don't know if I should just start a new thread to get an impression about this, but I run across people who frequently say that they regretted getting into the movie line and ended up selling them off and sticking with G1.

Does anyone have a similar or contradictory anecdote? Why do you think this happens?

 

That's a little off topic, but in my experience, for every person I've heard say that I've heard of 3 or 4 who bought one studio series or 3p movie figure on a whim and ended up getting all of them. It's a great figure and we clearly all like it so of course we're gonna say get it. Unique toys is shutting down soon so either get it now or get it never probably.

I just got my copy today and excited to paint but I have to wait for my chrome paint to come next week.

BTW - How did u mask to paint the eyes? Its sooo small and I'm afraid to paint over it

Thanks dude! I masked the eyes with small bits of masking tape which I pushed on with a toothpick to be sure it was on there. Luckily the base plastic is dark but not black so if I missed small areas around the eyes with my spraying then you can't tell as much. I did go over the areas as carefully as I could with a gunmetal gundam marker afterwards and then used a bit of white on the eyes themselves so they don't look too dead when the LEDs aren't on (which is a big thing I hate).

why do people WANT the battle damage version? I get this is a good mold but that looks hideous.

It's the same problem Siege had with smearing silver shit on anything interesting.

Because the movies didn’t have super clean bot modes. Seen you going around a lot of threads commenting on weathering and then dipping.

 

I don't WANT the battle damage version, but that's the version that will be readily available in a couple of months, so unless I want to hop on eBay and look for someone selling the original, this is the version I'm going to have to settle for.

 

I think it looks cool, but I already have two Challengers... But who knows... Maybe I will bite... Again! Lol

 

Honestly, the battle version is quite nice. If I didn't have the V2 or Challenger, I would not mind having it in battle damaged.

Finally got around to painted the head. Color matching the purple was harder than I thought. So I had to do few passes of purple wash after blue but I think it like it more like that
