Unicron #6 preview - Transformers News - TFW2005
I really hate slide in this series
Dammit, Slide! If you don't fight Unicron, you will have nowhere to call your own!
This is Slide right now.
Evidently so. Ugh, Barber could you just shut her up already?!
Damn, so in addition to Milne, they also got SPR, Griffith, AND Zama for this issue.
As much as I want Slide gone, I know they are going to keep her around just because the dissenting character needs to live to see their views defied. bleh.
even so: the world is on fire, everything is dying around her, Titans are exploding, and she is floating there bitching about false gods?
SHUT UP AND START SHOOTING ALREADY.
I stopped reading Optimus Prime because it seemed like they were forcing a whole 'no one is worth anything' message when Optimus was trying to be an ideal. But now I kind of understand Slide's hate. Because anyone who deliberately ignores Unicron to bitch about 'muh gods weren't real' needs to be summarily executed.
Flipside; I'm looking forward to seeing the end of this comic.
I don’t even read the comic, but can Slide just die already?
Okay, I want this to end to just get rid of Slide now.
In regards to Slide -- maybe that hyphen at the end of her last sentence means she gets SHEEAAAAGGHH'd on the next page
I'm excited for this issue!
Or she could continue rambling on in the next page in a mind text. I don't mind either outcomes though.
Transformers: Infinity War
Trypticon and Thundercracker are getting hurt?
I've said this before and I'll say it again: If Slide gets brutally murdered/vaporized by the end of this I will take back every bad thing I've said about her role in the series as Robot Sarah Palin. For Rung's sake she makes Pyra look like Bumblebee.
Also, Durocher and Zama on art too!? Hell yes.
Jesus I will be glad when Slide dies.
I have a hard time taking Slide's role in this as anything other than parody, really.
That Slide’s last line is hyphenated makes me wonder if we’re in for a nice surprise on the next panel.
I don’t feel like heeding the call for blood is necessarily as good a writing move as it is tempting, but... this really does sort of move her into monstrous territory. She is so situationally myopic, so devoid of empathy, that she can’t even be persuaded to defend the lives of those who would call her a friend in the face of imminent danger. Makes you wonder the places she’d go with just an ounce of charisma and a nudge gun.
A lot of RID/ex-RID/Optimus Prime has been devoted to infighting and unlikeable people, but this feels like one of the few, maybe the only, instances where the book has actually stood up and gone, “Yeah, so are you cut at all from the same cloth as this person? If so, FUCK YOU.”
One gets the impression John Barber harbors extreme disdain for the pettily destructive.
I'm certain this isn't what's happening, but Slide's extreme anti-Optimus opposition to the point of trying to divide everyone even while fighting Unicron is giving me some shades of Armada Unicron's MO, where he would plant or influence certain individuals to stoke conflict within factions to keep them weak.
I think it's a bit late for a twist that Slide has been an agent of Unicron all along, but it would be cool if the next page saw Unicron directly influence Slide and encourage her to fight against everyone, maybe even with some old-fashioned Unicron reformatting. We've been getting lots of hints regarding Unicron's sentience, and to see him develop some more traditional Unicron-y traits would be a nice touch.
I'd also like to say that though Barber's banter dialogue varies drastically in quality, the stuff here is pretty great, especially the dynamic with the Seekers. Blackrock and Metroplex's interactions are fun, too (makes me wish Blackrock and the whole Titan Master thing had been expanded more).
If that panel is foreshadowing, Slide better get slapped by Trypticon's severed hand..
Also, Thundercracker lives, or we riot!
