Oh man, only three pages, and now I want more! Flashbacks to the 80’s movie, que the music.

One things for sure, Milne totally nailed Unicron. He looks absolutely massive. We only see his mouth!

And this already seems very Transformers focused.

Not terribly sold on the story; everything seems rather humdrum and business-as-usual, which is odd since it's Unicron. Then again, this group did just witness an enormous black eyeball appear in the sky over Cybertron brought by two ancient demigods, not to mention an invasion by a hundred undead Titans, so maybe a cannibalistic planet isn't exactly a jaw-dropping threat. With that in mind, I'm hoping Unicron provides some further stakes beyond just a giant planet-destroying robot that have more to do with the whole "Cybertronian Satan" aspect.

But, I mean, I'm gonna buy every issue regardless because my god Milne knows how to draw some goddamn Transformers.

Hey, Bee's been dead for like five years. That's pretty good for comic book deaths.

Lovely artwork. Milne draws such a cool and cute Bee.

Unicron looks pretty epic too. Unfortunately I still can't bring myself to care.

On the surface, you're right. I'll play devil's advocate and say that even though Bumblebee was 'dead', he was never really gone from the comics. From the very next issue of Robots in Disguise following Dark Cybertron, he was featured in flashbacks and it wasn't terribly long before his 'ghost' showed up haunting Starscream. For a dead dude, Bee was still pretty active in the comics.

And granted, that was a great way to keep him around, but not resurrect him.

Huh? The creation myth that you're referring to literally begun with an allusion to "Primus's opposite"!

The very first reference to the "opposite" was actually in The Death of Optimus Prime, so it'll be very fitting if his arrival does indeed end the Barberts era that TDOOP started!

You know, I hadn’t thought of that. That would be rather fitting.

Nick Roche recently tweeted about doing art for
    The Death of Windblade One-Shot
I think he was joking, but if not, that would be good bookend for The DOOP.

I mused a few months back that the perfect bookend for the Barberts era would be The Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime #2, in which Optimus does actually die, having given his last to defeat Unicron.

And then Optimus Primal takes over and leads into a new era... that would really work well.

No, obviously the one where Op really dies would be "The Life of Orion Pax".
