Unformatted Prime UPDATE: It Has Color Now! This idea came to me when I got my MP Convoy and noticed how little kibble was on it. My brother then pointed out that, to a certain degree, all the truck parts were kibble. So, I've been mulling this over in my brain for over a year, then finally, the other day, it snapped. I saw the sweetest picture of Prime here on the boards, and all these design ideas coalesced in my mind, and I got to work. Originally I imagined this as some sort of protoform, but then I realized that Prime doesn't technically have a protoform, so I guess this is more like how Prime looks when he's "between" alt modes and not formatted for either one. Here is a WIP. (this is actually almost a day old, I have more done now) Unformatted Optimus Prime, colors by me! EDIT: Updated with the final colored version by me. I'll try to put a bigger version in my new post.

Very nice. I probably would have taken it a step further and ditched the vents on the shins, but that's probably personal preference.... and depending on your own definition of kibble. Other than that, it's pretty damn close to how I'd expect Protoform Optimus to look.
Update: Over the weekend I finished the pencils and just now I finished inking. (I should have been working, so don't tell my boss) Sorry that my inks suck, I'll fix it soon. I kept the vents because I consider them to be robot parts, not truck parts, and they looked really cool. And yes, I intend to color it as well, so stick around. Unformatted Prime WIP part 2
Great stuff. I still think you went too far with the detailing for a protoform, but I'd accept that as a show design for him
Well, I'm sure TFs had surface detail before they had alt modes. Anyhow, I just wanted to see a pic of Prime that the detailing was done to a tremendous degree. I think it's pretty cool. Anyhow, I am currently fixing up my lines in Photoshop, and will probably post daily updates.
Update: I've cleaned up all the lines on the left arm. Kinda slow going, since I don't have a mouse at home. Photoshop is so hard with a trackball. I'm debating whether or not to do preliminary shading as I go with the cleanups. Update
That looks pretty cool, although I would agree with Armada_MK about the torso. Looks too wide, and gives him an Energon Prime feel rather than G1. Not sure if you were going for G1 Optimus Unformatted, or an unformatted version of a "generic" Prime that is formatted to any generation's model. Looking forward to seeing more!
Heh, what was that crap I said about daily updates? Anyhow, I figured I'd throw in another update to keep this thread findable (by me). Almost done, just have part of the right arm and all of the right leg to do. I scaled parts of it to make better proportions. Check it out!
After 19 days of work, I finished the picture. This is the final copy. I may color it soon, who knows.
Here (hopefully) is the final colored version with colors by me. I gave a copy of the finished linart to Josh, and he liked it, so maybe he'll do his own. I have always thought Josh's colorings looked really really cool. Hmmm, after working with this file attacher, it doesn't seem to be loading my file. It'll upload it, then go blank, and not but it on the post. I guess we'll have to make do with the small version on the first post.
