So a coworker walks up to me tonight at work and asks "You collect Transformers, right?" I answer yes, of course, and he proceeds to ask my help identifying a couple TFs he got in a box at an auction for $1.

"Well, there's a white landing bay that turns into a trailer." Totally baffled.

"I guess it only had like one little landing pad, and a ton of ramps and shit."

So I sketch out G1 Metroplex. Bingo. We discuss accessories, and he mentions finding Scamper in the little ramp slot in his chest.

Then he said "There was also a green and purple one" and I try to sell him on the idea of one of the Constructicons, as they were the most widely had green TFs when I was growing up. He said "No, it's the same size as the white one." I froze. I can only think of one G1 toy that's green and purple and the size of Metroplex: Scorponok.

When he goes home he's gonna send pics to confirm the identity of second robot.

I tried to get him to spill out a price. His response? "I'll just bring 'em in for you, I don't have any need for them, and I don't need money"

So it looks like two cityformers for free. I will update once I have pics. Then I'll prolly be pestering people on here for some parts.

Grats. Best deal I 've ever had was from an excoworkers son. He had a ton of G1 toys stored in a bag above his garage. Trailbreaker, metroplex, prime, magnus, the insecticons, sideswipe, sunstreaker, jetfire and a slew of others all of which were complete, imaculate and with paperwork. I gave him 100to bucks and called it a day. I love sweet scores like these.

    Congrats.

And you should probably get him *something* in return, karma and all that.

That's why every co-worker I have knows I collect TF's. Just in case they run across anything, they let me know. I've gotten a few over the years, but never anything this awesome.
    Nice score!

Sounds like you have great colleagues! Some of mine know I collect toys, but none have been so kind as to see what they have up in their attics.

Green and purple, the size of Metroplex? Sounds like Scorponok, but it could perhaps also be G2 Megatron?

Dang! Two city bots? For FREE? Looks like somebody is getting a really big present from the employee gift exchange this year.

Best deal I ever got was from an old friend who was getting rid of his old Energon figures for some quick cash. He was gonna sell them at a garage sale until I asked what he had. I'd expected just some of the crappier Autobots, but from the first figure he described I realized I'd hit paydirt and I bought them all on the spot. For $70, I got a complete working E. Omega Supreme, two Energon Ultras (Overcast, Landquake, both only missing the missiles), a mostly complete Energon Optimus, mint Energon Wing Saber (only missing missiles), and complete Cybertron Swerve.

Got the pics, have yet to upload them. Turns out it was only Sixshot, and not Scorponok.

Hey, it's still a free vintage Sixshot, can't go wrong there, the re-issue retailed for like $70-80 IIRC and finding an original in good shape for a good price is a crapshoot half the time. He also has just two rifles as accessories instead of all the crap Scorponok had, and they're much easier to find on the secondary market (especially if you are okay with reproduction guns).

On the upside Sixshot won't be nearly as difficult to complete...and you still did darn well.
