Gerard Way can write a good comic. And Gabriel Ba is fucking amazing. Loved the first one. I am interested so far.

I dunno, I would prefer this series to be animated instead of live action. The Magnola-esque art work was one of the comic's biggest charms, and I don't think they'll do a lot of the visual effects of the comic justice under a Netflix live action budget.

I've read the Umbrella Academy comics and found them to be outstanding. A family of former child heroes and their dysfunctional issues and dealing with bizarre stuff (talking monkeys, Eiffel tower secret spaceship, time travel to save JFK). I wish Gerard Way would continue the comic, and I hope this series will do the comic justice.

Anyway, this series has hooked Ellen Page to play the White Violin, a musician whose music is ultra-destructive. They're going to need a special composer to make the music work.

Thor, Breaking Bad Alums Board Umbrella Academy Netflix Series

The Umbrella Academy will also star Mindhunter‘s Cameron Britton, Thor‘s Colm Feore and Breaking Bad‘s Adam Godley as series regulars, while Revenge‘s Ashley Madekwe will recur.

Feore will play Sir Reginald Hargreeves the Howard Hughes-esque man who takes the children in.

Godley will put on a motion-capture suit to play the character Pogo. For those who have read the comics, Pogo is a genetically-engineered Chimpanzee and Hargreaves’ trusted aide, who takes care of the team in an attempt to keep them together.

Britton and Mary J Blige are set to play two ruthless hitmen called Hazel and Chacha, who are tasked with traveling through time to take out targets in different decades while working for a shadowy organization.

Madekwe will portray Detective Patch. As an up-and-coming member of the city’s police department, Patch is set to butt heads with at least one of the Academy due to her stance on vigilante justice. (This looks like an original character who encounters the Academy I think)

    As did I.

Still, this looks interesting enough so when it’s on I’ll have a look.

That looked okay, had a distinct WATCHMEN vibe to it that sort of fits.

It would have been nice if they'd been faithful to the artwork though, even a little bit.
