Wow, they uhh... they have a hell of a film catalog. This looks to be the most high-profile release of theirs to date. Definitely a strange choice of distribution partner.
The distributor whether we know them or not. I'm just glad it's getting a domestic dvd release so soon. Otherwise, I was more concerned about the dub cast and the performance quality. Site showing the cast list: Shin Ultraman Suppose anyone here seeing it dubbed to confirm? However: First you can't unsee Kif Kroker as Ultraman, but now you can now never unsee Gohan as Shinji.
Dubbed is tomorrow, wasn’t planning to see it twice myself. Dub quality is probably along the lines of the Ultra Galaxy stuff but obviously couldn’t say yet.
Well at long last, I can finally stop avoiding anything and everything relating to Shin. It was quite good despite the dodgy CGI at times. The updated designs were very interesting, especially the Zarab one, which I could be curious to see how that would work as a toy. I really loved the way they updated Gabora. Oh, and hearing the Ultra Q theme in the film was awesome. However, I wish they had updated the original music instead of flooding most of the movie with monoral soundtracks. Very happy with the film overall. Not a dub person, but the fact tha Chris Hackney is the dub voice for Shinji must have been a feat for him given how big of a Toku fan he is. Oh, and oh my god, Tsuda was amazing as Zarab!!
Got my Space Sevenger. Is it a replacement for the original that I didn't get? Kinda. You get more accessories but you lose the rocket punch, battery packs, and the black parts are gunmetal colored. I'm okay with the last 2 bits but not having the rocket punch makes this release missing some of the original's personality. Most annoying part are the elbows. Since it uses disks to simulate the rubber coverings they cover how the elbows are oriented and you can't tell if they're posed the right and you either get a limited articulation or you accidentally pop the elbow off and need to put the disks back again.
Ugh, that rifle, the biggest want lol. I’m okay focusing on Windom and at least some of the Shin stuff out of recent exclusives though.
Because that episode with the gun was HILARIOUS. Very true about the sheer power of that sword though...
I actually liked the Mefilas stuff the best, but that's also because Mefilas is my favorite original series episode and alien. He's the only alien that went by undefeated and stopped his conquest willingly.
that concave rear side would be quite difficult to make into an action figure but it was pretty weird...in general I liked all the reimagined kaiju except the satellite-esque Zetton... would have liked to see Jirahs as the Shin Godzilla stand in though...
I'll have to wait until May when the dvd is released. At least that should come with an English dub. Reading movies is distracting for me.
I really like that part too, but my issue is how it was done immediately after Zarab. It's the problem with trying to cram so much into one film.
Back to Sevenger, Tokunation folks said the new release is an improvement over the original for its ability of standing still. They said the original was an unstable mess that can't hold its balance so Space Sevenger apparently fixed this issue and I personally tested that by posing him in his Kabuki attack and doing a little earthquake test.
Ultraman Max is here: Which means that this is the end of Mill Creek's tenure for the franchise. It's amazing how much they released in only a few years. Nearly every series.
Went shopping to see if the Figuarts Minis of Z and Haruki were available and to my disappointment they're still in the "Coming Soon" display even though it's been months since they were there. But I didn't come out empty handed. Yes it's yet another Ultraman but I always wanted the exclusive buildings and the Baltan/Mefilas spaceship and couldn't waste this opportunity. In other news, I finished watching Neos. While I liked its return to the earlier Showa style, it didn't have the most memorable episodes save for the Alien Zamu episodes. Felt like an attempt at rebooting the 66 series with some similar ques but gave it another name just to be safe. Also gotta love how they came up with the "Ultraseven 21" name. And now... the Cosmos gate is open...
i think they had some of those buildings available separately or might have been under Monsterarts. I do like the Mezco One12 fig comes with a set of buildings.
