First off, I have never made one of these hypothetical threads, so bear with me. Lets assume a large Megatron is coming down. From my perspective, Doing a leader megatron in DOTM style is going (IF) to be a trade off no matter what. Your either going to have a Cab only truck mode, that is in scale with Leader Prime in both modes, OR they do the whole trailer thing and the truck ends up way out of scale. I would prefer the cab only so both are in scale, BUT, What if there was a decepticon counterpart to the "Ultimate Optimus Prime"? What if they made an "Ultimate Megatron"? Lets say, same price point, trucks in scale with each other. Megatrons Trailer does something similar to prime so that they are both about the same size if combined, or drop the combine thing, and do something like the blast wave cyberverse base. Lets also assume it is AT LEAST as cool as Ultimate Prime. I was one of the nay sayers for UOP, and after I bought it, I was in love. Mabye the UOP haters could think of something cool for megatron's trailer to do. Now, lets say its made. Would you buy it? Could a "Non optimus" named toy sell at that price point? Would you rather see a more "correct" movie megatron Truck and trailer in this fashion, than say one of the sacrificed modes of a leader?
As long as the trailer is actually a part of the transformations, like with the voyager. He should tower over Prime.
Not really. I would like a leader class, transforming into just the truck, slightly taller then Prime in Bot mode, with the shotgun. But that's not gonna happen of course, they rarely aim for the perfect figure.
Megatron truck cab is smaller than Optimus truck cab, smaller enough to make a full Leader Megatron more in scale with a Leader cab only Optimus than a cab only Megatron would be.
None of the leaders are in scale in altmode. Also they are packaged in robot mode so this isn't even a problem. I want leader megatron, that transforms into the full truck just like the voyager, but with an even better sculpt and of course, shotgun. I don't care if the resulting truck is smaller than prime (it might end up being in scale with Ldr. Starscream and Sentinel though)
Leader Megatron should be cab only so he can look good in vehicle mode next to leader prime. In a perfect world he'd also have no electronics so his torso so he isnt a block surrounded by limbs. The CG model has no problem condensing the trailer into a tiny space, but real world physics and the limits of toy engineering can;t.
I'd definitely buy an Ultimate Megatron, that would be awesome. I don't think it would be a big seller though. Ultimate Op doesn't really seem to be selling (granted, that's only what I've noticed in my area, it could be flying off shelves other places) and of course bad guys don't sell as well to kids. At least thats what we've been told anyway.
I would buy an "Ultimate Megatron," with full trailer, at the same price point as Ultimate Prime, and I think lots of other people would too. If it was a good toy, and that's a big IF, it would be the best Movieverse Megatron we've gotten to this point. Witness the crazy eBay prices for ROTF Shadow Command Megatron right now. A lot of people attribute this to the fear that this toy will be the best Leader-class Megatron we ever get. As a kid, scale bothered me, and I can't be the only one. I practically wept when Motormaster came out and he was a fraction of the size of Optimus. I almost didn't want him or the other Stunticons BECAUSE OF THAT FACT. Consider this: an Ultimate Megatron may actually help the sales of Ultimate Optimus. If I was a kid playing with my toys, I wouldn't get into it if my Optimus was so much bigger than my Megatron. I might not want the Optimus at all. But if both toys existed at the same size, then I'd want both.
An Ultimate Megatron would seriously disappoint me. Prime is a horrible figure, with Armada-quality articulation and lack of screen accuracy. If they did it to Megatron, then it would guarantee we'd be gyped of a good Leader Megatron, yet again.
