I got 6 and 36 in the post yesterday as my first delivery after subscribing in September, and with them was the usual huge amount of newsagent bumpf about subscribing and reserving the next issues etc.

Sounds promising to me (although on their list of character bios in the marketing guff they mislabeled Prowl as Jazz)

Okay, just to confirm, people who are getting their first two books this week, these are still the trial volumes (which AFAIK have been sent out in advance free of charge).

The first 'proper' shipment should contain the first three volumes (subscribers get the third issue free), plus the first free gift.

No idea why we are getting the trial issues so late, especially so close to the proper launch. Weird.

The weird thing is, though, these aren't the IDW versions. The cover to Heavy Traffic has all the Marvel characters around the edge, and the little kid in Decepticon Graffiti is wearing his Spider-Man t-shirt. This stuff was painted out of the IDW trades due to rights issues with Marvel.

If I got the trial issues of 1-4 (not actual book numbers) will I still be getting 1-4 when its officially out thus having to pay for books I already have?

Yes. You shouldn't have been charged for the four trial volumes. You'll be getting these again when the series launches properly at the end of the month.

Oftentimes they take the opportunity to tweak a few things between the trial issues and the regular launch, so you may spot some slight differences when you get these volumes for a second time.

I remember on one of the Hachette books (Dredd, maybe??) the most notable change was that they had a complete rethink of the spine art.

Thanks :D  kinda suck I'll be getting them again, but then again they were free and I can give them away. Maybe they'll change Jazz so he doesn't look exactly like Prowl on one of the bio pages

The first set of IDW reprints had all the Marvel stuff missing, but I thought the second set of Classics reprints had it all reinstated?

The first set had no Marvel references whatsoever - entire issues starring Spider-Man and Circuit Breaker were left out completely.

Although the current set (with the predominantly black covers) do feature the Spider Man and Circuit Breaker characters, most other Marvel imagery is painted out.

Another example would be in 'I, Robot Master'. In the scenes set in Marvel's offices, the reception area was decorated with pictures of Captain America and Hulk that were painted out in the IDW trades.

Just got 16 and 18 in the post within 2 days of the first 2, checked my accounts and yeah I haven't been charged anything for these 4 books.

Seems like a weird choice to give away so many books for free if they're going to be replacing them with exactly (or near enough) the same books later on down the line, I've never bothered subscribing to a partworks before but I guess it's normal?

So the four books i already have will be made redundant when the full run gives me potentally revised version?
Just peachy. I'm already running out of room for stuff. I don't need 4 useless books taking up space.

Yeah, I've had redundant trial issues from Hachette before. You can either keep them as first-edition rarities, flog them on eBay or just throw them away for recycling.

Personally, once the 'proper' issues get printed I'll more than likely get rid of the trial ones.

    Not bothered about the prints.

My first 2 books turned up last week. I subscribed end of october ( i think). Got a poster, which I didnt expect. Im actually really, really happy I got it. As I remember having the same poster from the UK run of the comic the first time around. Seriously nostalgic....

There is a new gift on the new site. What the hell is a "tin plate cover"? A metal wall hanging thingy?
