UK doctors seek permanent ban on selling cigarettes to those born after 2000 ? RT UK



How will this work?

If it does will I be the last person to die of cancer from smoking?

 

Pre-2000 people will just buy them for the younger people.

 

Or Post-2000 will import them, if not buy them online domestically.

 

Assuming that a ban is put into place and goes on and on etc, customs would probably put a stop to tobacco products.

This is pretty crazy, from a legislative sense, but at least it might get some dialogue going.

 

If your going to ban cigs for anyone born after 2000, you better ban driving as well, and ban drinking.

Both are as equally if not more responsible than smoking for premature death.

BTW I quit smoking 6 months ago and I feel its a personal choice and with it goes personal responsibility.

And to those saying that people should be left to make their own choices, what about those who die from second-hand smoke? What choice did they make?

 

Outside of children under the age of 13, people made the choice to be around smokers, because that's the only way it's gonna kill ya.

 

That's a stupid idea. May as well ban them entirely at that point.

If you are of age to buy them and are told you can't while other people can, that will be a discrimination shitstorm.

Why are you hanging out around smokers if it worries you so much? These days you have to go out of your way to find them in public.

Unless you are stuck living with parents that smoke in the house, how exactly are you being exposed to second hand smoke?

 

I was just making a general statement, and though my parents don't smoke, I used to live around neighbors who do.
And as for me, I specifically do try not to hang around smokers, for exactly that reason.

 

Oh I'm sure we will jump on that bandwagon soon enough, give it time.

 

That's the age where you and your friends actually start smoking and you have a choice whether or not to hang out around them. As for family, which I'm sure you're going to bring up next, place a ban on smoking inside a house with children of a certain age. At least that's reasonable more reasonable and is actually justifiable.

You're not, unless you decide to hang around them for long periods of time.
