Disney and Warner Bros. Artist Tyrus Wong Passes Away at 106 For those who may not know him, he's the guy that created the backgrounds for some films such as Bambi.
Guy had a good run, hope he rests in peace. I hadn't heard of this guy before today, which I suppose further reinforces he never really got his due before recently. I suspect he worked on a lot more than just Bambi, but even then, shaping some of the style of the early Disney films is a big deal, given how influential those have been in global animation in the decades following. His obituary in the NY Times seems to go into things in greater detail, he sounds like he had to overcome a lot to get where he ended up. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/30/movies/tyrus-wong-dies-bambi-disney.html?_r=1
May his soul rest in peace. Bambi was a wonderfully animated film. And a hundred and six years is definitely an awesome age.
