I've had an on/off relationship with the Transformers franchise ever since I was six and first saw an episode of Beast Wars. I'm finally back on the wagon, thanks to the More Than Meets The Eye/Lost Light comic and the recent purchases of the '86 Transformers movie and Titans Return Mindwipe. As such, I'd like to field a few questions to the Hardcore crowd. 1. Is the Robots in Disguise/The Transformers comic any good? I haven't heard that much about it's sister series (aka the Transformers comic that had to change its name when Robots in Disguise (2015) came on air). Is it any good? Do I skip the whole series or is there a point where I should start? 2. Are the Revoltech figures worth it? One of the things I follow religiously is the production of highly-articulated action figures, so the Revoltech Transformers figures have had my eye for years. Not so much the movie figures, but the more solid looking cartoony ones intrigue me, even if they were designed by Pat Lee. If anyone can tell me if their worth the purchase price, that would be greatly appreciated.
1) it variable. The first seasons issues that take place on Cybertron arent that great but then there are issues that folliw Orion Pax and build up to Dark Cybertron wich are where Barber exceeds himself. Season two has a good start but then it was interrupted by the whole combiner wars promotion wich was very boring then it got better and now season three's first episode fell flat but the second one is improving. 2) i have no intrest in non transforming Toys so i couldnt tell ya.
The Revoltech toys are all kinds of crap. The one's based on the movie are alright but avoid the G1 ones.
1) I'd recommend getting a few issue recommendations and evaluating for yourself. Most here like IDW's comics, I personally think they're garbage. 2) Given the high level of posability of the modern transforming toys, I think Revoltech is kind of redundant. Nicely detailed, of course, but not really necessary.
