So my girlfriend and I have a red-eared slider turtle. He ate our placostamus yesterday. I bought two Algae Eaters, in hopes that they would last longer. One is missing, one was found dead floating on the water. Suspects are the Zebra Danyo, the Hedgehog, and the turtle.

His tank is getting quite nasty with algae and we really don't want to dump out this 20 gallon tank, wash it, then put it all back in and repeat this every 2 to 3 weeks.

Is there any type of fish that is small, super fast, agile, and not DUMB enough to be stationary in front of a hungry red-eared slider who is coming right for them?

None that I am familiar with, sadly.

What kind of filtration system are you using w/ the turtle? I don't know if they are made any more but I had a 'viquarium' from Tetra. This was a filter, pump, and waterfall thing that my Painted Turtle loved and it did a fine job of keeping the tank fairly clean. The tank had to be cleaned roughly once a year.

There are no such fish. RESs are very aggressive and would eat even fast moving fish. The only thing you can do is get a strong filtration system, but even then you still need to change the tank about once a month.

That's why I got a tortoise. When I had a slider, putting my hand in the tank was like sticking my hand in a toilet bowl. :puke:

He hates his plants, he rips them up and tosses them around the tank.

So I think the Algae Eaters I bought were sick. We had (HAD) 5 Zebra fish, and as of right now, I just watched him devour 2 of the 4 remaining, we assume the one that's missing shared a similar fate of the two I just watched get consumed.

We've had these fish for WEEKS and he hasn't touched them. I think they got sick and they're not moving so fast now and the turtle is taking advantage of this.

I'd say snails but he's probably eat those. I'd go with some kind of water filter that he couldn't destroy, if there is such a thing.

Do you change your water regularly?Asking, cause you said your fish got sick. I have a 30 gallon tank and a good filtration system. And I change the water every 2 to 3 days.

Expose him to a strange substance and watch him mutate into a giant. Then train him to be a ninja.

You lost me after "my girlfriend and I." Then I just got jealous :(

I don't know anything about the subject but good luck with the turtle/algae insanity. By the way I didn't think of ninja turtles when I saw the topic I thought of turtling in fighting games, aka crouch/blocking incessantly. Hooray.
