Hello everyone. It's been nearly a month since I posted anything. I knew this would happen! However, I VERY happily welcome you all to the beginings of the end for my TurboREmastered series!
    D3vnEXMW0AIiRsM-1.jpg
With the last member of the OG Turbomasters: Flash(Insert obvious Queen reference here):
    unnamed-5.jpg
    Part 1: Scorch
    Part 2: Boss
    Part 3: Rotorstorm
    Part 4: Hurricaine

And it's about darned time too. And finding the mold I wanted to use to make him took me longer then expected because every time I thought of something, the proportions of the molds didn't work out. Here where my candidates:
    20210716_001103.jpg

The closest that might have worked would have been the Siege Datsun mold resheled with AOE Lockdown, but I couldn't imagine a a way to make the legs look right.

So I turned to my older customs for inspiration and by good fortunte it was staring me in the face. A custom that I made back in 2013 and my first truly heavy custom. I then rushed to my local comicbook store and and by sheer luck found the exact mold I needed. Ladies and gentlemen, the bot that will become Flash!:
    20210722_231805.jpg
2007 Universe 1.0 Sunstreaker! And my second favorite mold from this line.(1st is Scourge's Boeing X-48B alt mode)

And as a special treat, permit me to present the customs that inspired this choice; my custom Omnibots Overdrive, Camshaft and Downshift!
    20210720_215714.jpg
I won't go into full details about these guys other then I made then back in 2013 as my first true passion projects. This is aroud the same time I finished my custom Cliffjumper and began my custom Trailbreaker. Overdrive and Downshift hold up extremly well, however, Camshaft, whom I never finished painting, doesn't and I will be FULLY rebuilding him from the ground up now that my skills have improved. So I will show these guys off more when that time comes.

For now, Overdrive will be my assistant for turning Sunstreaker into Flash because I will replicate the mods I did to his hood on SS but in a more refined manner. So you guys will get to see my evolution as a customizer first hand.

    20210720_215740.jpg

So here is a more or less side by side before and after shot. I wont be doing any heavy mods to the legs, so the only concern with this mod will be the upper body.
    20210720_215846.jpg

Firstly, I tool apart the torso and I made some very specific cuts. You will see the before and after pictures below. Just spot the differences:
    20210720_220228.jpg 20210720_222030.jpg
    20210720_222150.jpg
    20210720_222639.jpg
All of these cuts the torso rails to slide down even further then before, permitting the hood chest to shift to a horizontal position. I had to remove the small tabs on the clear rails. Then I replicated the necessary cuts on the silver side of the chest: 20210720_222326.jpg
    20210720_222709.jpg
    20210720_220833.jpg
    20210720_222837.jpg
All this trimming will let's the hood stan up and does not affect transformation:
    20210720_223126.jpg
Next thing I did was test the head and trimmed unessecary plastic from the tray so it doesn't clash with the hood's new position to let it sit flush(something that I did not due on Overdrive, but you will see the differences):
    20210720_223647.jpg
    20210720_223719.jpg
    20210720_223819.jpg
    20210720_224952.jpg
Here is why trimming the plastic is important:
    20210720_225731.jpg
    20210720_225753.jpg

Basically, it's because it saves you alot of needless work. At the time I made OD, I did not have a grinding tool, so I did all that with a knife. As you can see on OD, because I didn't think at all of removing that bit of plastic from the head tray, I removed(needlessly) alot of plastic to fit his new head and neck(though he is mercifully NOT a partsformer and is still fully functionnal if a bit wibly in transformation).

But I learned my lession to yeild much cleaner results.

Next thing I did was trim some plastic in the shoulder area to allow them to reposition properly(I made the exact same mods on Overdrive):
    20210720_225102.jpg
    20210720_225638.jpg
    20210720_225646.jpg
I also trimmed a small nud right here(where might knife blade is):
    20210720_225346.jpg

And the result of all this cutting, trimming and about 45 mins of time are this:
    20210720_231046.jpg
    20210720_231051.jpg
    20210720_231124.jpg
Oh yeah, I also did not put the black gear back in place to permit the backpack to stay in position during transformation.

And this is where the comparisons to Overdrive and the future Flash's mods ends. Take a bow Overdrive, you have been a wonderfull assistant. I shall return to you and your brothers in a future thread when I rebuid Camshaft.
    20210720_231226.jpg

With 1/4 of the mods for this project done already, the last thing I did so far was take apart the forearms to remove the doors for when I do the mods on the roof wings. I have to say, interesting set up they have going on:
    20210722_005613.jpg

And that's it for the time being! Seeing as it's still busy at work and I don't have virtually limitless time to do this stuff like in the fall and winter, I'm very happy this was short and simple and let me not only revisit one of my proudest customs but also improve on it.

I hope you all enjoyed this. The next heavy mod I will work on is figuring out a hinge to give him his signature windshield-roof-door wings. An believe me, there is not alot of room to work with. But I already have the beggings of a plan in my head. I'll see thru trial and erroe what works, won't I? And I have begun adding the finishing bells and whistles on Pyro's trailer(amongst the myriade of mods left for that project including the last 2 drones, etc).

I will leave you with that. The begining of the end for my TurboREmastered project is starting off strong!

I hope you liked this and I will see you all next update.

Nice! Like where this is going. I really like the Omnibot trio customs as well. Interested to see how the doors end up.

Hello everyone! It's been another long one hasn't it?(well, by my regular upload schedule anyway).

Yet I do come too you with a fairly brief but important update!

Last time I left you with the finished chest mod. Well, this time, I bring you the Coup de Gras to finish Flash's iconic silhouette!

Firstly, I had to figure out what to do with such limited space to work with:
    20210727_005254.jpg

So I'd started with my origional plan by trying to make some more space for the shoulder hinges I'd found from a junker CW Scout class Groove(the same I'd used in at least 2 other projects):
    20210805_013613.jpg

That was until BETTER idea hit me in the face like a brick! I found out that there was enough room in between where the arms and the doors are, so I did this instead:
    20210803_010324.jpg

It works very nicely(though it does mean I need to repair the backpack now). After a bit of testing, I found out that the doors would need to slide back a bit to make them work as proper looking door wings. Therefore I set out to build sliding brackets starting by removing the unessecary stuff from the inside of the doors:
    20210805_004052.jpg
Then I used putty and thin tube styrene to make a slider. Then I found parts from a junker DOTM Berserker and styrene to attach the slider to the moving hinge:
    20210805_012722.jpg
    20210805_013005.jpg

    And the result is:
    20210805_013134.jpg
    20210805_013138.jpg
I then put the wrists back on and shaved a bit plastic from under the forearms to make a bit more room for the new parts:
    20210805_013505.jpg

So far, so good, so let's move on to the roof! And thankfully this was simple because all I had to do was use tape and the leg split as my guideline:
    20210805_215551.jpg

And 20 minutes with my hobby knife later:
    20210805_220322.jpg

After glueing the roof to the doors, I removed the shoulder "horns" to give him more accurate ones and decided to take the tailpipe gun and glue the ends onto the rear bumper:
    20210805_235912.jpg
    20210817_213231.jpg
The vehicule mode still looks pretty good:
    20210806_001614.jpg
    20210806_001622.jpg

And I'm pretty cofident that the seamline won't be as apparent when it's all painted.

And though I haven't done this yet, I'd like to try to cobble these together to make a more accurate head:

    20210817_222714.jpg

But maybe I'll find something more suitable later. Last thing I did was fill in the wrist gaps(I'll put the fists back in when the arms are painted because the are a pain in the a** to get in and out):
    20210817_213311.jpg

So, what does he does he look like now you ask?

    Like this:
    20210817_223119.jpg
    20210817_223150.jpg
Here is an earlier picture from the back:
    20210806_000301.jpg

And of course, the hinges and tude piping make the roofwings adjustable:
    20210806_000336.jpg
    20210806_000359.jpg

That takes care of all the big physical mods, leaving me only with the minor mod for the head, maybe adding the blue fins on his legs, building the gun and straight up painting him.

It also wraps it up for this update!

I hope you enjoyed and I see you all next time.

Hello everyone. As it turns out, I'm not dead! Though work might as well have finished me off:(

I return to you with yet another short update. I only just started getting a bit more time back so hopefully by the end of Octobre I'll be able too get back in gear.

But for now, permit me to share with you what little work I've been able to squeeze out since the last time.

    Firstly, I've finished the head:
    20210923_192603.jpg
    20210923_192611.jpg

I did this by chopping off CW Offroad's face, removing Classics Sunstreaker's face from his helmet and swapping them and adding them back to SS'S head. I finished the crown with putty.

I also did all the paint apps for the blue, green and silver in the arm's bicepts:
    20210923_192623.jpg
    20210923_192542.jpg

And I finally got started on the gun:
    20210921_012243.jpg
    20210921_012257.jpg
    20210921_012303.jpg
    20210921_024523.jpg
    20210921_024524.jpg
    20210923_020031.jpg
Though it's nowhere near finished, it's coming along much better and faster than I thought. Any guesses as to what it will transform into?

And that will do it for this update.

Honestly, the only stuff left is to finish the paint job and the gun. That's really all. This is going by quicker than I imagined.

I hope you enjoy this and I'll see you next time.

Hello everyone. Where does the time go? It's been almost a month since my last update(yet again).

But this one is fairly important because it's the penultimate update to this project! Though it is again a very short one.

Firstly, I have begone what is arguably the most important detail for Flash, his emblem. Like with Hurricane, I cut out the outline from painters tape and painted it in:
    20211011_235051.jpg
    20211014_001811.jpg

    20211014_023731.jpg

And the result also has a slight 3d effect from how thick the white pain is.
    20211014_023833.jpg

I'll try etching in the blue details with a toothpick. That might be thin enough. As for everything else:
    20211020_000742.jpg

I did also add the blue intakes on his rear and swapped out the wheels:
    16347003812462264420011481470370.jpg

The big problem I'm having is that for whatever reason, even with all the sanding I did, the paint still flakes off too easily for my liking in some high friction spots. And I don't have sealent for Citadel paints. Of well. I'll just have to hope for the best.

I still need to touch up the paint in spots, finish the caution stripe detail on the sides and install a peg point for the gun.

So needless to say that my next update, which will be soon(I'll get back to working on this after I get back from my trip next Monday) will be the conclusion to this project. Hope you'll be ready for it.

Hope you enjoy and I'll see you next time!

    Fantastic work.

It's fun to see what people are doing with their pre-WFC figures now that the core Sunbow G1 cast is mostly available in the "new scale."

Hello everyone. And happy halloween! I have a great treat for you all: I am very pleased to welcome you all to the conclusion of this final chapter of my TurboREmastered Project part 5: Flash(AH-AAAAA! SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE!) You all knew that was coming.

But before we get to the main attraction, there are a few last minute modifications I added to make him better.

Firstly, I decided to cut his spoiler in half to make it resemble his G1 toy a bit more and used a panel liner marker to make it pop a bit:
    20211026_212002.jpg

Next thing I was use the now exposed pinholes to mount a bracket I made with styrene:
    20211026_211941.jpg

It can also be folded :
    20211028_010549.jpg 20211028_010558.jpg

The last thing I did was to finish the side stripes with yellow instead of gold. I had originally planned on keeping it gold, but because the red paint I used turned out slightly darker than I expected, the gold just didn't pop enough. It also would have been weird if the only spot that had yellow on it was the crown. Instead of starting from scratch(because I lost the outline decal I was using) I painted it over as carefully as possible. So the end result is not as sharp or smooth as it could have been, but is more than adequate for me at this point. And to keep with the aesthetic of the Lamborghini Gallardo from which this mold is based on, I added the vents on the front and painted the bottom of the front grate. But you will see all this in the following pictures.

And with all of that house cleaning done, it is my great pleasure to present to you the end of my TurboREmastered Project Pt5: Flash!

    20211029_002635.jpg

    20211029_002656.jpg

Here is a closer look at the head and chest emblem:
    20211029_002739.jpg

What I did for the blue was etched it in with a toothpick.

    He is handpaint with:
    Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet
    Citadel Macragge Blue
    Citadel Lothern Blue
    Citadel Moot Green
    Citadel White Scar
    Citadel Abbandon Black
    Citadel Flash Gitz Yellow
    Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey
The pink is a mix of Citadel White Scar and Citadel Wazdakka
    Testors Metalic Silver
    Gundam Black Panel lining marker

The base mold it 2007 Universe 1.0 Sunstreaker with Sunstreaker's head moddified with the crown and intakes from CW Offroad and putty.

The reprolables used are from RTS Blurr and Titans Return Fortress Maximus and silver backed Autobot faction sheet.

The jet engine gun is built from a super glue tube container, a CW Prowl gun, parts from various CW hand/foot guns, Universe 1.0 Sunstreaker's gun, a wheel from a junker CW G2 Swindle wheel, a junker CW scout class Groove, leftovers from a CW Offroad, parts from a broken and junker Minicon Stormcloud, styrene and putty.

    Vehicule mode:
    20211029_004130.jpg

    20211029_004136.jpg

    20211029_004102.jpg

    20211029_004121.jpg

    20211029_004329.jpg

A closer look at the gun:

    20211030_003242.jpg

    20211030_003250.jpg

    20211030_003256.jpg

This it by far the most detailed gun I've made so far.

And of course, as is to be expected from this series by now, this gun has a secondary mode. In this case, I was somewhat stumped as to what to make Flash considering that I'd already made all the others fairly non standard heavier ordenances. And though he is the straight up confident soldier of the group, I didn't want to give him a generic rifle. So how about this instead:

    20211029_003632.jpg
A jet engine tri-barreled drum-fed semi-automatic shotgun. Kind of like this:
    e3dc07058f2aca6a2c89e04152c5970a.jpg
Here are some other angles to see it better(because it doesn't come across from head-on):
    20211029_003508.jpg

    20211030_004540.jpg

    20211029_003452.jpg
Neadless to say that it's difficult to try to get a slim-down shotgun look out of a cylinder, but at least the barrel gets the point across.

And as a result of the chest mod, he can't pose to well with the gun ouside of generic poses, but still:
    20211030_005906.jpg
    The confidence comes through.

And of course, we can't forget the group shot featuring the ENTIRE TEAM!

    Let's start with vehicule mode:
    20211029_012632.jpg

    And robot mode:
    20211029_000557.jpg

And of course, weapon "Super modes":
    20211031_005201.jpg

    20211031_005132.jpg

Holy F! I'm not one to took my on horn, but I have to say that I am very proud of this. Considering that I started this in 2019 with Scorch as a passion project and pipe dream, I honestly can't believe that I completed this project.

But whereas you all get the treat, for me this is actually a trick because believe it or not, I'm not truly done with this project.

I have several tweeks, fixed and upgrades that I want to make to pretty much all of these guys. Plus several bigger things involving the Turbomasters overall. But for the time being, since they've been the centre of my attention for pratically 2 years, I'm going to move on from them for a GO-HOOD WHILE.

After all, I am spoiled for choice of which project to either continue OR start next

I hope you all enjoyed this and see you next time!
