So... not quite G1, not quite Bumblebee movie... is this just an updated take on Optimus? Or is it a KO or 3P of one of the non-transforming licenced figures?
I mean it looks kind of cool but there are transforming Optimus' in similar styles that look just as good AND have an alt mode. I'm just a little unsure if this is bringing anything new to the party?
Yeah, I think it's just a stylized Optimus sculpt. Pretty cool but not for me.
Looks like my 5 y/o nephew is designing transformers
Sweet! Looks like he's based on XM Studio's statue design:
XM Studios Optimus Prime Statue
Now we just need a version of this guy that transforms.
It's an Optimus. I'd buy for a reasonable price.
I ordered this statue almost 2 years ago. It showed up a week ago. It’s awesome so I’ll definitely be down for a smaller articulated version.
This is awesome.
he looks weird but in a good way.
Yeah, it's definitely an articulated version of the XM design. Bit of a weird one IMO, but looks ok for what it is. Am assuming this isn't a transforming figure.
That's my assumption as well, but if it did, they would have my interest
Hey, it *is* an articulated XM Studios Prime. Finally! I hope this sells and they make the rest of the line because look at this gorgeous thing:
Hope these guys are smart and don't overprice their action figure like Banana Force did with their RID Prime.
Want TF action figures to succeed but not at the expense of being taken advantage of just because Flame Toys overprices the shit out of their TF licensed figures. Specially when 3P Gundam metal built makers have fantastic prices for what you get and some, like Poison/Moshow, are making works of art. Just check out their Kampfer:
after the price drop he was around 170.00. That’s less than half of of what flametoys is selling their figures at. IMO I don’t feel like the figure was overpriced. Especially after seeing how awesome he is in hand.
I don't much about Gundam stuff but that Kampfer does look like a rad toy though.
Off topic but Poison/Moshow/Vientiane toys is highly recommended. Flame toys too if you can stomach the price, though I suspect some of their costliness is due to a hefty HasTak licensing fee so it’s not just -them- being greedy.
As for this, it’s not quite the awesomeness of the statue, but it looks to have good articulation including articulated fingers, and if they at least match the statues paint somewhat I won’t be able to resist.
I got this Poison toys diecast monster last year for 170$. One of the most premium figures I own:
Banana Force can't even be bothered to include a simple stand for their RID Prime for the same price.
I preordered the Kampfer from the first video for 185$. These Gundams are unofficial and are very persecuted by Bandai so they sell out fast but if you preorder you are sure to get a great value for your money.
And that is why I say that Flame Toys stuff being so incredibly expensive, even considering the license, does not justify 3P companies overcharging for their nontransforming action figures with metal. Especially when other companies are making way better nontransforming action figures with metal and lots of extras for similar or lower price.
Hope Tryace plays it smart with their pricing instead of trying to make a quick buck out of TF collectors. In the long run, the only thing that could actually give Fanstoys a run for its money are highly articulated action figures with premium finish. Because that is how FT figures mostly end up... Except for the "highly articulated" part (we all know how FT is allergic to waist swivels).
I like this design but something about his proportions seem way off to me.. I did a quick edit to the photo to see if looks any better if I tweaked them a bit.
I read somewhere that this is fully transformable, but reading the weibo seems to suggest otherwise.
EDIT: official confirmation that it isn't transformable. Those other tf news sites really need to get their shit right.
