I just got a TRU Rodimus today. So far I've had his exhaust on his wrist crack and his leg joint has completely broken off at the red ring of plastic in the ratchet joint. I don't live near a TRU and I'm only going to be near one for one more day. Are major QC problems common on Rodimus, if so I'll just get a refund, if there not common I'll get another before I go home? Ironically I had no QC problems with my Takara Rodimus.
the side panels on the legs are assembled with parts of the joint not even formed, the chrome rubs off very easily, the arms fall off.
TRU Roddy is PLAGUED with issues. Incendentally, this seems to be due to a chioce in plastics in the joint area that is different from what was used for the Japanese production run. Who knows why that plastic was chosen but it is turning out to be a nightmare as slightly off pin assembly is causing all kinds of havoc with that plastic. With that I'll say this again: DO NOT MAIL ORDER A TRU MP RODDY*. Edit: *I should ammend my "do not mail order a TRU Roddy" to exclude directly from TRU if you can easily get to a TRU for an exchange if necessary.
Had no idea he had so many issues, I think I'll just get a refund and forget about having a TRU Rodimus for his car mode.
Ditto. Bought, opened it in the parking lot right after, I removed Rodimus and the arm fell off as Iwas looking at it.
I bought one, and it came out of the box with a broken ankle. Get your money back and put it to better use. The toy is a turd.
I've had the broken ankle, cracked/not-yet-fully broken shoulder, and a stripped screw on a forearm. I've yet to fully transform this fourth one but all the joints and pins look OK so far.
Fuck, it sounds like the entire toy itself is a quality control issue. Glad I didn't waste any money on this crap. I'd get your money back and put it towards something else. Even Ultimate Prime looks good compared to masterpiece Roddy.
ive read alot of posts where people assumed the tru version was the same as the v2 mold of mp9. guess that was total bs.
I think "mold-wise" it will be. The key difference will be what plastic Takara chooses to use. Really that is where Hasbro Roddy fell down - there is some weird interaction with pin tolerances and that specific plastic. But yeah, the combo is a QC disasterpiece. Side note - honestly I think the mold is starting to wear a bit as well. Might be a factor in V2 TT Roddy as well.
I picked up a TRU Rodimus Prime, and finally decided to open it. When I did I found the biggest surprise. Someone had resealed the figure back in it's original box. The worst part was they didn't use paper or plastic ties to secure the figure, but thick metal wire. I have no idea how they bent it to secure it. I used some pliers and got the figure out expecting broken parts. To my surprise, there was nothing wrong with the figure, except a small paint chip to the metal joint that flips the hood over. I guess I was very lucky
I have one with no apparent QC issues... but between trying to transform it on my own, and watching Peaugh's review of the Takara MP Rodimus... I gave up transforming it. You can only hear "careful this might break" alongside dealing with floppy pieces mid-transformation for so long before you want to throw 60$ thru a wall in frustration. He displays well enough in box for those that aren't interested in transforming... but he's such a fragile PoS... I swear looking at him funny would make him collapse.
