best transformer iv seen in a while. Definitely best iv seen on shape ways! maybe just because of my love for the character.

but! would you recommend getting this in polished? or do you think it might wear the ball joints down too much?

Went ahead and ordered this guy--he's just TOOOOO accurate to the character that we've grown to love to resist. Ordered WSF; last time I ordered polished, ball joints were all loose.

Does anyone have a link for how to have a smooth paint finish for WSF?

Thank you all for the kind words!

Well...after a little exchange I had with TFCC on twitter, I rather not take my chances on the Chromedome head.

    I wish I am a billionaire too :(
Get my own workshop with a contingent of elves.

Well...he turns into a rectangular block for what it's worth. No memory storage capacity anywhere, but I'm sure an industrious craftsman should be able to work a flash drive into his body...

The waist is as thin as I could make it as we still need to store his head in alt mode, but he is still pretty feminine looking. I might do a 'fem' version in future with a head variant, who knows?

Polishing will have you end up with loose joints, and Alumide even more so. That is why I don't recommend them for anything but the simplest of models. Besides, Trivia has plenty of clean, flat surfaces that are easy to sand manually so I'd rather go down that path.

For those who have already ordered Trivia, thank you so much for your support! I hope the design won't let you down!
Should you have any issues with the design, please leave me feedback on this thread. I'd very much appreciate it!

To get better, smoother paint finishes on WSF, you can try sanding off the top layer of powder, using multiple coats of paint/primer and sanding those down, and/or using matte paint to minimise reflections.

Oh man, this is perfect. If Shapeways wasn't so expensive I'd be all over it.

FB just an idea. How about offering the head separately so that we have an option of buying it in FUD with the body in WSF?

Fakebusker disagrees with me but I'm perfectly happy with ordering this guy in Polished Aluminide. I got a Thugmiester in it and yeah he was floppy but some floor polish fixed that up. And the price for my floor polish is an exquisite print that looks super detailed and feels perfect.

Just ordered one of these, it looks so perfect and I'm a huge Rewind fan so I had to.
This is my first Shapeways product, what is the best type of sandpaper and paint to use?

Thanks for your support, Eriku and I hope your first order on Shapeways is a good one. I'm not sure what you mean by type of sandpaper (are you referring to the grain or the type (dry/wet)?)

Sanding with a 400 first, then 800 grain should be good enough for most WSF models. For paint, most modelling paints are fine since WSF is so porous, but you might want to lay on a coat of primer first so that the material doesn't sponge away too much paint.
I'll recommend using matte paints or topcoats to reduce the appearance of roughness.

Thanks! Yeah, I meant which grain of sandpaper. I've actually never sanded/primered/painted a full figure before (i've painted small details like faces & rims) so this will be a first for me. That should tell you how much I love Rewind and how excited I am for this figure! :)

    Awesome stuff.
I've been sitting on my 3D stuff, and seeing this is inspiring me to start ordering it and getting back into it.

The MTMTE/TFCC head is very stylised, doing a more slavishly G1 inspired one shouldn't step on any toes, right?
