My understanding is admittedly limited, but from what I know, Maketoys and Fansprojects are different companies that share overlapping design teams. Which is why their aesthetics tend to be very similar to one another. Their combiners are especially similar, but obviously use different sorts of engineering in places, which is why you can't jizzai gattai (or rather, Scramble Power) Intimidator's car limbs onto Quantron.

Sorry, my not-Aerialbots are buried in a storage unit with dreams of seeing the light of day on a display shelf. I couldn't remember Uranos's height. After finally looking it up, this guy might be too big at 14.5 inches if Uranos is 12.6 inches.

I talk to a guy who works for both fansproject and maketoys, though for professional reasons I'm not allowed to mention him by name obviously they like their privacy as everyone knows. He helps them with getting feedback from fans here and on facebook gathered up and talks to a number of us in the community about certain things involving both companies.

Not to mention Maketoys Quantron, some of the figures literally have parts re-used from FansProject M3. Literally, the exact same parts. And the same designer of course did both sets.

Its very common for companies to have different names if only because of them focusing on different types of product lines rather than having the one company name be linked to multiple different types. I guess its an image thing more than anything else.

You know, not all of us restrict ourselves to one version of a character ever. I already own M3 but will totally be in for this. I had FPJ Bruticus, but I still bought Warbotron's.

What I'm trying to say is that Warbo now basically splits into Generations Toys and TransFormMission. Maybe no one has officially announced that Generations Toys is a sub-brand of Warbo in publc, but judged by the aesthetic style of GT Devastator and all the rumors, we can be pretty sure GT is Warbo. Their Devy also comes with a small Megatron which is a typical play of Warbo.

In that case, I don't think they will continue to deliver figures as Warbo but GT and TFM.

They just use the new names GT and TFM, nothing changes fundamentally. Aesthetically, I don't like their offerings but I'm still getting Computron cause its my favorite combiner.

    Yay. Another idw Menasor. Wonderful.

Can we get an early g1/Sunbow effort please? Someone? Anyone?

I'll just sit in the corner and pray TT do an official MP one sometime before I'm 40.

If this is "For All Mankind" Menasor and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'm down.

Fansproject's version wasn't any particular IDW design so there's only one.

You know what? I'm secretly praying that this is a replacement for FansProject's Diesel! I mean we're starting to see more upgrade kits for 3rd party items, so why not?!!!

I'm not so sure they're tied to Warbotron. The Warbotron Bruticus and Computron bots are very true to their G1 faces and vehicle modes, on the whole, while the GT Constructicons can't be identified in their robot modes at all. Face sculpts and body types are completely different than the Warbo offerings. All the two share is an overt attention to detail on panels with a slightly stylized finish. But Warbotron Brawl is a spitting image of G1 Brawl. GT Bonecrusher... doesn't look like G1 Bonecrusher in any way at all, except that they share a bulldozer alt mode and green color.

So unless Warbotron is moving in another direction, I wouldn't think this is theirs. Besides, WB-02 -if it ever happens - had a completely different profile than this Menasor in his own teaser.

What would be a win for the next Menasor would be actual authentic car alt modes that look like real brand-name cars. That's the one thing nobody's done other than Hasbro it seems, and it would be straightforward enough to outdo their simple designs with more elaobrate and detailed car modes.

I doubt I'll like it more than UW Menasor.

I wish 3Ps would start doing more obscure combiners. Still no updated Piranacon yet???

Two totally different sizes = two totally different markets.

You can also replace "sizes" with "prices". ;)

I just added that last bit, because I figured someone would at some point. Someone always does…
