Hey, maybe this isn’t the right forum for this question, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a non-Transformers line of transforming trains with decent articulation. I like the look of Takara’s line of transforming bullet trains but they’re basically bricks.

There’s a few Tobot trains but they don’t scale well and aren’t well articulated either.

As for transforming trains...I haven't been collecting anything outside of TFs for a while but, maybe the Soul of Chogokin Gou Gai Gar is worth looking into? Granted, it's a Combiner of a Lion, train, driller, and jet.

Hi, I'm currently in Taiwan. Their main form of transport is trains and buses, so naturally there is a whole collecting world for these locomotive wonders! These caught my eye recently, I'm not sure if they transform but I think they may be pieces you might be interested in. My apologies if these are the toys you mentioned above already

I have a set of those. While they are fun they don’t really have a lot of articulation. Really, the best train bots I can think of is the Rail Racer team from RID.

Edit: I forgot Optimus Ex Prime from transformers Go!

 

Those are the Takara ones I mentioned. The character designs are great and the toys look pretty good but from what I’ve seen they’ve got elbow and shoulder articulation and not much else.

I’m hoping Takara does nicer versions of those designs, that’d be pretty much what I’m looking for

 

Try the Super Sentai ToQger line, nothing but trains that combine!

 

Oh yeah these, I remember these from the toys r us stores I used to go to in Singapore. I think these mainly cater to a younger audience but I would like to see some that could also cater to older audiences

Cannot recommend rail racer highly enough. Some of the individual bots are a bit hinky, but they got style and awkward grace and and the combined form is the kind of luscious object we don't see a lot of these days. There's also Sixtrain, the micromaster combiner, which is p cute too!

Rail Racer is one of my favorite transformers and possibly the best combiner in my opinion. But I’m looking for stuff I’m not familiar with.

the tokkyuger megazords are superb, a bit weird considering how basic the trains appear are very well engineered and the combined forms are pretty wacky. There was a lot of criticism originally for tokkyuger when it first was shown, it is now one of my favourite megazords, blocky but elegant and the transformation of the torso is cool, plus you can articulate each train individually and then join them together for a very long toy!

Tribomber from the Brave is a nice one, unfortunately, not easy to get, I ony have one of them, there are four of them, and each of them is a tripple changer.

Love, love, LOVE ToQger. I have the four main mecha, the movie mech, most of the DX and EX auxiliary trains and the gold repaint of ToQoh. Just need Drill Ressha and General Schwartz's artisan train zord to round off the collection.
