No, not that transforming pen toy...this one! I found this guy in a box of old items that I had been storing in my grandmother's basement. It looks like I might have made a very early attempt at customization with regards to his eyes (they seem to have been darkened using a ballpoint pen...possible from the toy itself!). It is a parts-former...the pen "cap" is the head, and the pen tip pops off to plug into the neck port. There's a very tiny ink cartridge in the cap, which has long since dried up. There are two additional "plugs"--round disks that attach to the opposite end of the pen and the neck port in pen mode.
Does anyone know where these can be bought? The only marking on the one I have is "R.O.C. Made in Taiwan"
So cool!!! Not a very good idea to have if you have important papers to get thru!! This deserves a post in "The Thread of Weird".
No idea on where you can get them but a bit of digging led me to this: STA: Buddy L's Robots From Around the World: Argentina RoboTron! Not sure if that's the one but an Argentinian company called Logo made quite a few variations of the "Robot Pen" bot. There's a pair on ebay for an insane amount: RARE & VINTAGE ROBOT PEN TRANSFORMER 80´S MADE IN ARGENTINA BLISTER | eBay Four Star a company known for KO's apparently made some too but having a real hard time finding anything on that.
