Wow, never thought we’d officially see those molds again. Cool for those who want em.

Still holding out hope for an SDCC Predaking, perhaps with a sword and some chrome???

You're probably right. Some will sell it in the box but the most profit will come from selling the figures individually. Basically prepare for a $10 to $30 Bumblebee and the tapes cost between $50 and $200 individually (though some idiots will try to sell them for $500 a piece). The set will probably sell for $120 on eBay but I'm just doing guesswork here. It could be better or worse than I predict (but prices will come down eventually). I pretty much am getting this set since I got a friend going to SDCC and if that fails, the collectable shop near me always gets them in at a mark-up and if that fails, I always get the opportunity to purchase via HTS. Still, it's not like it's any less pain but at least I don't have to wait in line.

    This is so strange.
why are they packed with SS Bumblebee?
    why are they SDCC Exclusives?
why are they only rereleasing them now?
why is Saur going Fireguts but Dial is fairly close to his original Deco?
why are they not showing combined mode pics?
are they going to do Graphy and Noize as well?

so many questions. this is almost as random as that Blitzwing and Astrotrain rerelease in those strange colors that were supposedly based off Machtackle and some other guy.
    its just.... huh?
Definitely getting this tho, since I highly doubt I'll ever get the real, or even KO Dino Cassettes ever in my entire life. and not gonna lie, Saur is wearing that bright clear orange plastic pretty well.

To be fair, the argument has never been "molds are lost, so it's impossible." It has been "if molds are lost, they'd have to be recreated, which is costly." That's still true.

So, yes, if Hasbro wants to do something badly enough, of course they can, anytime they want to. But for the most part, it's not going to be cost-effective.

As to complaints about the fact that these are exclusives (and, thus, "hard to get," notwithstanding the fact that they'll be available at HTS). I don't see dinocassette reissues as having sufficient mass appeal to work at retail numbers. These are pretty much the definition of "appeals only to hardcore fans." Appropriate for a convention, sure. But that means exclusivity.

No question, if I'm fortunate enough to snag this set, Bumblebee's going straight to eBay.

    HATE movie-verse molds....

I actually like that Bee mold but damn, they had to ruin it with those tacky gold rims.

Is the assumption here that Blast Off, Repugnus, and P/CP (tee hee) are all dropping simultaneously, or are they coming out piecemeal?

I notice this says "Volume 1".

That's makes me wonder if we'll see 2-4 more volumes with the other Cassette combiner team or two more issues of both teams but with alternate solid/clear plastic versions. Don't you think it is VERY strange that 1 Cassette in this set is colored just like the original toy, while the other is drastically different and molded in clear plastic? So what I'm saying is if there are 4 volumes/sets, you collect all 4 to get 2 dino Cassette teams in solid reissue plastic colors and 2 dino Cassette teams in fancy clear plastic colors. I just find it VERY strange that 1 Cassette is colored just like the original toy but the other is not.

Not really my area of TF collecting.

But happy to see they are an option for people who want them.

I would like the cassettes, I might even pay $40 for them.

But as I like in Europe, which is a long way from San Diego, and Hasbro Toy Shop don't ship to us.

It'll be $120 on ebay, plus $25 tax and $15 fees.

So, I'll just wait and see if there's a ko.

(I actually think the orange looks cool and better than the original)

Already got the dino KOs, no need for these. Nice exclusive, though (minus the crap BB).
