There’s always volleyball man lol
Fun fact: AH-1's in their grey camo, use the same colors as F-14's do. Dropkick and Maverick should have the same base color of plastic, if they matched their alt-mode properly.
I can only speak for myself, but Top Gun is a great collab for a transformer figure, for the following reasons. 80s nostalgia. Ask a bunch of g1 fans that experienced the 80s, and they will probably say that they loved Top Gun. Just like with BTTF and Ghostbusters, I feel that they possess a high level of cross-appeal to the oldschool tfer fan, (young boys demograph) and they all happen to have now iconic vehicles that would make a cool transforming figure. The way they shot the jets to look so sexy/cool, and the soundtrack. It's a quintessential 80s movie.
Twin Peaks, Titanic, Donnie Darko, I wouldn't describe them as fun movies. And there's no 80s nostalgia to help tie them together, to help celebrate and embrace that 80s theme.
And not all 80s movies would make much sense to create transformers with, obviously. Breakfast Club, Dirty Dancing, Stand By Me... no. But an F-14 Tomcat? That is right up Transformers alley.
As above, but it boils down to: the absolute utter core of G1, is 84-86. What movies define that era?
Back to the Future--85
The crossover ratio is insane, of "peak G1 experience, and peak 80's blockbuster nostalgia"
Just noticed that the names are in the wrong spots on the right side of the cockpit. On the left side, Maverick is in the pilot position, Goose is the copilot. On the right side, Goose is the pilot, Maverick is the copilot
Expecting fans to pay $50+ for this figure is absurd.
What a weird thing to say in a thread full of people excited for and eager to buy this.
There are, I think, three Botbots that are round sports balls and none of them are a volleyball.
Wow, tough crowd! I think this guy is awesome!!! LoveTop Gun, love Transformers, love the Tomcat. I'm in!
Ok, maybe I'm not in just yet.
Will these be available eventually in stores? Shipping is high, this guy is expensive for a mainline mold. Is there a deadline, might it sell out the preorders? I mean, Wctotron is available locally in EB Games stores for $60 CDN. Wil this guy eventually make it there? If so, I can wait.
I doubt I can resist. Before I pull the trigger, does anybody know these answers? Thanks!
I probably won't get it but I don't think it looks that bad. I don't like it as much as Ecto-1 or Gigawatt but somewhat impressed they didn't just an existing Seeker mold.
I stand by what I said. Especially when Hasbro is currently charging $49.99 for a Leader Class Optimus Prime. This isn't even a Limited Edition figure.
You’ve apparently never looked at Hot Spot ever. He’s such a heavy retool, there’s barely anything left of Hot Spot. And quit bitching about it now.
Wal-Mart actually also carries those.
Read his post again. He suggested it being a new mold, UNLIKE Ectotron and Gigawatt.
If anything it's even more poignant. The price tag is ridiculous and yet people still buy it. And I'm not one to ever decry people buying whatever they want, God knows I've paid MSRP for things not worth it, but it doesn't change the fact that the price tag is absurd.
Stateside it’s a Hasbro Pulse exclusive. Elsewhere I’m not sure how it’ll be sold.
Oh My Primus

Fair enough. I think it's weird to be excited to plunk down $49.99 for this figure. It's a $25.99 figure at best.
Try 90 euros in Europe.
No way in hell I'm paying that for it.
I had a passing intrest, but it passed
I also had a passing interest, and there are things about it I like. Then I saw the legs and torso and the awful arms, and pretty much all the robot mode, other than the head. It looks like a bad Go Bots toy.
That deco makes him look like a communion wafer.
The plastic looks very frail and the robot mode isn't impressive. I'm starting to see the cutbacks in these figures that they were talking about
Separate names with a comma.
