Yes, and that's about all I like. This feels like it was done by the Star Wars Transformers design team. That is not a compliment. I don't even see how this is Leader class. Bah.
The head sculpt is nice but it looks like it came from a different figure. And what's with those shoulders? Given it's Hasbro, what are the odds it is mistransformed?

    I'd settle for Commander class

Honestly, that's the most feasible way we'd get a modern Tidal Wave

But realistically, they've done all the major city formers, so who could next year's Titan Class be?

What could be worse if Iceman\'s next. Wait, is there anyone talking about Iceman (not DLN.005)? Or any other planes?

I expect Collaborative figures to be an extra $5-10 for a few extra accessories and licensing plus a general "fanboy tax". This is a Voyager. For $40, I MIGHT bite on a Voyager collab if I thought the figure was especially inspired. $50 feels excessive here. $35 is my price where I'd be tempted.

With Back to the Future and Ghostbusters, those have fandoms. I get it. With Top Gun... It's some people's favorite movie. It has quotes people remember. But is anyone actually a FAN of it? As-in a member of a subculture (aside from USAF)?

There was KO company in the 90s that did The Titanic as a Transformer-style toy to cash-in on Titanic. This feels more like that. It's a big, beloved, mainstream movie but it doesn't strike me as having a subculture around it.

It's like doing Lethal Weapon, The English Patient, The Fugitive, or Slumdog Millionaire. I'm not sure it's a toy anyone was dying for.

It might have had a better rollout at an actual SDCC event just because the movie is set around San Diego and you can actually go to Top Gun landmarks there.

Sure there's a sequel due out but Rocky Balboa and Twin Peaks had long delayed sequels that I didn't see a merch demand around. I really feel like this would need to be sold IN San Diego to trigger the purchase at $50 just because of the city's connection to the movie. The movie shot some stuff very close to the convention center including the bar scene. At an actual SDCC off-site event with a giant inflatable Maverick Transformer over the bar from Top Gun, I could see paying $50 if it were a physical on-site exclusive as a memento of a trip.

As a mail order item, it feels like a $35 figure to me.

The volleyball scene has been frequently parodied in Top Gun spoofs and is kind of iconic in gay culture.

Kind of like the Laughing Prince Adam meme.

Barring repaints like Metrotitan, Mega Zarak, Omega Sentinel, etc. I think about all you're left with is maybe Broadside, Tidal Wave, or possibly a new Primus?

With a kill counter showing it is the bloodiest movie since Rambo! ;)
    And chicken arrow accessory.

Hasbropulse only ships to USA. Unless you have a friend there willing to help, wait for webshops to list it.

I dont think they have the legal rights rereleas that specific mold...
It might even be iffy to make a mold thats "too similar" to G1 jet fire.
But i might be wrong, and i wont even pretend to know the detail of the macross legal stuff around jetfire

If we're to have more titans Hasbro as well as some members of the fandom are going to have to look outside of the box.

Yes. Hasbro claims no rights or ownership of that design. It was used under license during G1, which has long since expired, and there've been a lot of legal shenanigans since to prevent them from using designs that could be even considered similar (which Hasbro routinely scoffs and laughs at, but still. The legal rights surrounding the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie design in the West are a goddamned mess).

I think I agree with most comments that that white is horrid (again), the box is boring, and if they do Cyberjet remolds that would be awesome, but I won't be getting this, it's not exciting

will get more of a sense of it once we see some scale next to another bot

Put that next to Ectotron and Gigatron and it’s not fantastic is it.

It reminds me of a Unicron Trilogy-era figure for some reason.

After digging through this thread and seeing all of the people talking down on this just makes me want it more. In my experience it's the things that don't sell at first that gain value, mainly due to the lack of circulation of them. Either this will be immediately worth it or severely profitable down the line. I say bite. (On a side note I have a feeling the Nintendo Labo crap will be a collectors goldmine in the future. It's fragile, no one bought it. I'm talking 30 years down the road but hey a come up is a come up)
