I always wonder who the audience is for stuff like this. It's incredibly expensive, and doesn't look like anything special for that price. Most Generations figures you can find at Walmart make better display pieces, and for a tiny fraction of the cost. So who would buy this?
Looks cool, the most interesting thing to me is that this bust uses both the G1-styled Autobot symbol and the one from the movies at the same time. Conscious decision or mistake? It seems like it'd take more effort to do two different ones than just using the same.
The sculpting actually looks pretty cool if you ask me. The head makes me think of a skull, particularly the lines on the mouthguard. Not cool enough to drop $250 bones though.
I'm guessing they're basing this off the Optimus Rhyme fan art but didn't want to or couldn't pull it off.
Things like this appeal to people who like street art / graffiti / designer clothing / fancy sneakers / sofubi etc. It's nice a Transformers bone gets thrown to non-geek fans every once in a while.
September 3rd... OP with Blaster... Hmm... Sounds like a reference to Mikhail Shufutinsky's song "September 3rd".
The skull design is the main design element of the artist Quiccs’ OC, TEQ63. He is a skull themed hip hop character who also has influences from Japanese mecha characters. Quiccs has done other collabs with other mecha characters in this style both official and unofficial. He recently did one with Toei and made a Voltes V one because he is Filipino and Voltes V is the most popular anime over there.
