That doesn't extend to the engineering does it?

Who knows, but I wouldn't be surprised if the engineering puts it outside of a standard Deluxe budget since it was made in mind to be an exclusive two pack.

Well damn. Don't know that I wouldn't buy it as a retooled Hound for a higher price than normal.

I'm gonna guess the engineering on JP specifically will be exclusive to this mold. Because it's a licensed Jeep. So even if they use elements of it in the future, there's specific design decisions made to ensure Jeep signs off. Similar to Porche/VW/etc.

Those constraints wouldn't be in place for Hound, so they wouldn't purposefully handcuff themselves.

Plus whatever their deal is, I doubt Jeep would be happy with Hasbro using their mold to make more money without them or their input.

Why would Jeep have any say on the engineering?
The license is for the likeness of the vehicle.
From a business perspective I would never make a deal that would contractually bind the engineering to the vehicle likeness.
Though, I do suppose a hypothetical not-Jeep retool in particular (like the Detritus alt mode for example) could perhaps skirt a bit too close to the license terms.

First collaborative in a while that actually makes me want to buy. That Jeep is so good, and the dino is nice too. Both should be deluxes too so not too expensive like the first JP collab.

Sorry I didn't take a better picture before pulling my plastic out. But man this might have been a cool display piece if it had a plastic window and more design on the cardboard

I want more JP themed transformers. I'm liking my little collection of them here. We didn't get Transit from ROTB, so instead they need to give us the bus / mobile lab from JP Lost World

Designers from both Hasbro and TakTom have mentioned running into this before with vehicle licensors over the years, they can make or a break a design's engineering based on panel lines, how the vehicle breaks up during transformation, etc.

I'm sure if Jeep is down to clown on more Jeepformers they aren't gonna be stingy with the license though, JP borrows heavily from Alternators Hound so there's a handful of low-hanging partials there if they wanna get wild and weird with Binaltechy homages later on down the road - OR they just genericize the vehicle shell and use the same skeleton for some other character.

With the knowledge that this is possible I can now safely say with 100% certainty that JP12 would make for an amazing looking Swindle

How? The chest is nothing alike.

Why wouldn't they? When your design a game engine for someone in the gaming industry, you're not free to use that engine in your own projects. If you design a font for a company you're not free to use it yourself. Or a formula/recipe.

I just think it'd make for a really cool looking Swindle design
Also alternators Swindle is a thing who does have a chest that looks like that

That depends on the contract specifics and the attitudes of the people in the companies involved.
Nothing is assumed to be included in the deal.
    That's what contracts are for.

    EDIT:

And making an engine for someone in the video game industry is a bad example since it's actually more like Jeep hiring Hasbro to engineer a figure without specific vehicle tooling that Jeep would then be free to use in whatever project they like.

Assuming that Hasbro is licensing the vehicle likeness from Jeep and the Jurassic Park IP from Universal, then it's exactly like any video game company acting as a third party interested in making a Jurassic Park game based on the movies.

However, I imagine it's more likely that the Jeep Wrangler likeness is already included in the JP licensing as a separate, preestablished deal between Universal and Jeep.
