Eh, this Megatron toy kinda gives me 90’s or 2000’s mecha action figure vibes.

 

Mine just came in via Amazon. They shipped it with just a shipping label slapped onto the collectors box despite me checking off ship in an Amazon box, which the mail guy Force shoved into my mailbox, so there’s no saving the box. A lot of QC issues With the figure. The tampos are lazily applied and I have at least one cobra logo and megatrons chest symbol borderline applied sideways onto the figure..not sure if this is the same with anyone else’s but near the crotch and on the scope, the paint has air bubbles under it and has been applied in large splotches. It kind of feels like the paint/plastic issue with classics prowl if any of you remember that where the paint doesn’t really adhere to the plastic. Also a large red fingerprint going through the number on one of megatron’s shoulders. And yes, backpack on mine does NOT stay tabbed on. It’s supposed to be held on via a swivel joint but the weight of it pulls it loose at least on my copy. Pretty much just falls off with the slightest touch. It doesn’t tab into the back either. It sort of just rests on the shoulders.

I would’ve taken pics, but I’ve already sent it back I’m that appalled by the quality on it. I’m hoping I just got a REALLY bad copy and everyone else is good with theirs.

 

This thing is so craptacular it's making me reconsider the bb awe striker and also yearn for the old star wars transformers line at the same time, lol. In all seriousness I was underwhelmed, it makes a serviceable hiss, but terrible transformer.

 

My copy has good quality, and I hope it stays that way.

 

Guess I'm in the minority that actually likes this toy. Been having fun playing with him. Mine has no QC issues.

 

I'd like an updated Cobra Figure to go with Megs. What should I get?

 

I found the black Cobra Commander from GIJoe retaliation at a local shop that scales with these vehicles. See picture:

 

I took a chance and ordered another, and this one is actually a lot better.

Looks great in the display with the other Joe references (added a few extra figures to fill out the shelf until more gijoe crossovers come out).

Last time I checked, Pulse still said first of the year. I would bet that gets bumped up though.

 

And how is your new copy’s QC this time?

 

I was underwhelmed when I first opened the package, but upon opening the Baroness figure and seeing it's an o-ring style figure put a retro-esque light on the Megatron and I warmed up to it pretty fast. I just wish it had a waist swivel. Still in on these though and hopefully whatever they have lined up for Prime has more articulation and less turret syndrome going on with the backpack...

 

I myself am underwhelmed by this set. I hope the upgrade kits would change that. I feel that the price for this wasn't that justified... Looking forward to clearance sales.

Welp, I ended up buying some G.I. Joe figures to go with him.

 

What kind of stuff outside of gap fillers do you think we'll see fron upgrade kits? Panels to cover the grey in front of the treads? I wonder if someone will make a trailer or some other type of towable to break apart then become armor upgrades of some sort?

 

I don’t know how he works yet, but red inner panels for the lower legs; maybe a brand new arm cannon...gap fillers can’t fix that thing.

Other than that I would love to see what Toyhax might be able to come up with for him.

I love the idea of this crossover line, hoping for an Optimus and another Decepticon.
