The thing about scalpers is they suck the joy out of this thing that should be a simple joy for us all to have and turn it into some joyless capitalistic enterprise (possibly at the cost of their soul, IMO).

And yes, the people that buy from them are part of the problem.

Don't bother with any "but it's their right", or "That's just free market economy" comments, please. We all know the arguments, blah blah blah.

The point is, Transformers are supposed to be fun. And scalpers ruin some of that fun.
    That is an irrefutable truth.
    And that's why scalpers suuuuuuuuck

I guess @B-Fox feels like a victim. Not sure of what though.

Hopefully the online stores like TCP and company will be able to get pre-orders as well since they were able to do so with Ectotron.

Ectotron wasn't upsized from the mold he was based on, there's no reason to believe this one will be. And besides, this figure is listed at 5.5 inches tall, which is the same as Sideswipe's listed height

    Yes. This.

It's even worse for those of us without access to certain store exclusives - I was fortunate enough to grab the Target Seeker 2-pack from a board member for $85, but on eBay they're listed for $120 or more - and my Target is a pain to get to, not to mention the retail monkeys often have no idea what toy you're after if you call the store.

If a toy is out-of-print and its aftermarket value has risen due to rarity, that's one thing; but trying to get double the retail price of current toys? It's a dick move. IIRC scalping was a big problem with certain movie toys during the original runs, especially Premium Series and the G1 redeco of movie 1 Jazz.

Lol. Your original comment made it sound like the only people to blame are people that buy from scalpers and not the scalpers themselves. It takes two to tango and both the scumbags that create scarcity and the people that cave in to people holding 29.99 dollar toys for 700.000 ransoms are equally to blame.

But sure, psychoanalyze and @ me if it gives you some kinda of win.

This isn't really bad pub though since we already know it's Walmart's botch and we also know there's a full release in the fall.

If anything, it will likely shape how Hasbro moves on these in the future. Walmart burned them.

The point is no one is being forced to pay $400 or more. I can list something for a grand, but I'm not holding a gun to the TFW's head to force everyone to pay my price. Of course, someone out there will pay anything for the right to say they own it, and that's what kills it.

I responded to your comment about being a victim. You made a hugely unrealistic comparison. I @'d you in response to your post. There's no win to be had. This isn't about winning or losing, unless you're feeling as though board conversations are about victories over having one's opinion validated.

That was Red Wing and it went about the same through the initial wave. But he wasn't as limited a run.

It really feels moot though as this was a one-off. Normally we haven't seen these kinds of issues (Ectotron really comes to mind here) and come October when the scalpers get their damaged numbered boxes we'll be getting ours from Pulse/BBTS/etc.

Yup. I'm going to be opening mine the second it gets here so I'm fine if the box is numbered, not numbered, or one of those Selects generic brown ones.

Ectotron was epsized in a sense. When you use a voyager truck/trailer mold to create a car, how is that not upsizing ? It may not be traditional upsizing by mrans of enlargement, but now you got a car the size of a freaking truck. So while the physical mold itself wasnt upsized, the scale class itself was upsized. The scale class was upsized to MP vehicle scale to scale properly with the ghostbusters MP-10 repaint. This isnt rocket science if you think outside of the box instead of trying to be so literal. I cant speak on Hasbro's definition of what 5.5 inches is. I can only pull out a ruler and tell you that description is false advertising. Perhaps they cut and pasteed Ironhides description for all the figures and nust changed the names. I could see Hasbro doing that out of laziness.

You've never seen, in person, a car from the 50's or 60's and to shows. They made them big back then. Small cars did not become common place until about the late 70's or early 80's.

No, Ectotron WAS NOT upsized. They used a generations scale mold to make a MP scaled mold, simple as that

And I'm not going to assume future crossovers will be in any consistent scale with each other. Like, if they do a Bill & Ted phone booth it'll probably be a massive Deluxe sized phone booth next to Watt and Ecto.

Maverick looks to be roughly Voyager sized based on the figures around him. SS Jetfire is a big jet in alt-mode, but I wouldn't call it scale with SS Prime when he's in semi-mode.
