Mashable in with the announcement! New figure and an IDW comic. Looks like a heavy Siege Sideswipe retool. Two versions as well: One is exclusive to Wal-Mart and limited to 1985 pieces, and the other is coming to Pulse and ‘select retailers’, so I’m guessing that’s how us Brits will get him.

edit: added a couple of photos from the article - there’s quite a few more on the webpage, including the comic art.

I could get behind that. Still waiting for a modern GI Joe cross over.

These crossover figures would be so much more successful if they were made to scale with Generations figures. I was terribly dissappointed when my Ectotron arrived in the mail and I saw he was huge. And from the size of the box, we have already seen that the Top Gun figure is going to be huge. Why are they MP scale ? (Especially considering they are more of a generations style enginnering) Why would I want to display these with my very G1 season 1 MP collection ? Generations and CHUG scale has so many expanded continuities that Id be perfectly fine with having this one off character somewhere in the display. But if its MP scaled, im not interested. Fool me once, shame on you Hasbro. Fool me twice, shame on me. Thats how it goes right ?

This looks amazing. The opening gull-wing doors and rotating wheels are awesome details. I wish they would create new molds for these figure rather than reusing existing molds.

On the bright side, at least Gigawatt isn’t a shellformer like Ectotron.

It’s ok looking I’ll probably pick it up.

The article doesn’t make it exactly clear. What exactly is going to be the difference between the limited Walmart version and the Fan channel version besides the numbered Box?

But hey that explains the 2 different Overseas Amazon listings, there’s 2 different versions of the toy.

Reminds me of how some OP toys have removable Matrix in their chest.

to the best of my knowledge, they are in Generations scale, or at least the robot modes are, as Ectotron is based on a Combiner Wars mode. This guy is based on the WFC:S Sideswipe mold, and given how relatively stringent that line is on scale it’ll probably look a bit more sensible on a CHUG shelf.

Honestly, it looks much more impressive to me than Ectotron did, but I think that's my own personal bias speaking. Can't wait!

I'd guess (besides the neat numbered licenseplate graphic on the box) the limited version maybe is the "dirty" paint scheme and the fan channel version will be clean?

A definite want either way, but I do wish they'd slap some paint or something on the windshield, or use a darker-tinted plastic on it.

That said, I love that he apparently stole Optimus' rifle and hooked Mr. Fusion to it. :p  And he's even got little flux capacitors on his shinguards. Awww.

Ectotron is mp scale, hence being paired with mp-10

And this guy is a definitely much more of a retool than ectotron was, looks good but not as good as I had hoped. Still, he will have a place in my collection

Looks good though I wish the windshield had something covering up that stuff inside while in vehicle mode.

They’re getting a lot of use from that figure. No surprise to me, it’s a brilliant design, but any more and he’ll be starting to rival Classics Starscream for reuses!
