Definitely agreed. I'm just sick of the absolute blind praise for Cullen. Yes he created the voice and he was great in G1, but the only time he has been great in the role in modern media was in the devastation game and in the high moon games.

 

I actually agree. I try to keep it positive on here, but im not a huge fan of cullens modern version of prime. Thats not to say he isnt a incredible voice actor, just that im reary for an all new prime vocally

 

I don't care that Peter Cullen has been dead for 10 years, shame on Hasbro for not allowing him to reprise his role for this new series!

 

And I'll fully acknowledge a big problem is the writing and voice direction, but if they can't direct him to give a good performance then they shouldn't waste the money on him

 

I mean, their track record in the last few years have been comprised of either hiring Cullen himself or some cheap knockoff to play Optimus.
Also, if Cullen wants to return, which he does and is dissapointed with how they've been treating him, then let him.

Anyway, as much as Jetfire looks out of place in the Decepticons (hope there's a good explanation for that), the animation was pretty good.

 

You mean a good explanation like... the fact that Jetfire is an ex-Decepticon in most versions of the G1 fiction?  

So like... if Darth Vader wasn't a James Earl Jones soundalike? Because I don't think that's a voice you should try to change.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the reason Jetfire defects in G1 cartoon is due to being on ice, in other words, not knowing the Decepticons until he sees them in action for the first time.

Jetfire joining the Autobots now after essentially participating(?) in most of the war feels strange at best, illogical at worst.

 

I have a lot to say. First and foremost I'm satisfied.

 

Hell probably not realize how bad or tyrannical most of the decepticons are( like he wont have seen it first hand) because megatron talks a good game, and because jetfire is too much of a nerd to notice the world around him (basically hes too busy in his lab/nicer parts of cybertron to notice that outside on the streets bots are being impaled and smelted down and whatever)

 

I don't recall whether he and Starscream were identified as Decepticons in the flashbacks, but he definitely wears the Decepticon brand first.

Following that logic, having Jetfire involved in the war on Cybertron at all is a bigger discrepancy, since he never took part in the Marvel or Sunbow versions.

In any case, it's not illogical at all to envision a scenario where someone joined the war on one side for various reasons (personal, circumstantial, ideological) and then became disenchanted and left their faction. War changes people and it changes beliefs.

I actually just watched this episode last weekend. The flashback with Skyfire and Starscream takes place back before the war, before there were Autobots and Decepticons. He only joins the Decepticons because Megatron lies to him about the Autobots being the evil ones, and trusting Starscream who was his former friend. He realizes the Decepticons are the bad guys when Megatron orders him to kill Hound, and the other Autobots, and Starscream blasts him when he refuses.

Siege is definitely different but we'll see if that will be a good different or a bad different.

Cullen's performance in both Prime and RID15 was sub par and sounded phoned in. He wants to play Prime, but only his way and if he is directed to play him any other way then he phones in the performance and goes to cons where he bad mouths other actors that have played the part. There is more than one perspective to every situation.

 

How many episodes is this going to be?

Low key jealous of the Japanese for getting the voice actor for their original Convoy.

 

I doubt he has any good reasons. Itll most likely be the Same old complaints that most people here are repeating over.
