I can\'t wait for the trailer. I\'v been a BW Fan from day one.
This is really cool! Just makes me more confused though as to how on the toy end of things they ended up not getting that hourglass marking on the abdomen.
That's because on real black widows, the hourglass marking doesn't go there on the abdomen. At some point in production someone looked at an actual picture of a black widow and changed the markings to better reflect the actual animal.
This video link shows real black widow look like hourglass symbol is on its web sack
true fact on arachnid symbol of black widow
Yeah, Kingdom Blackarachnia is more Australian redback than western black widow. But redbacks are basically black widows anyways so I'm not really bothered by it.
Spoiler: Arachnophobia Warning
Yup, it's a spider.
After observing it through many angles, there's no mistake that this is, indeed, a spider.
That's the abdomen. More importantly, that's the UNDERSIDE of the abdomen. That photo is showing the underneath of the spider. That is where the hourglass goes, yes. Not on the top. The top has markings closer to what Kingdom Blackarachnia received.
Australia? Damn Tarantulas went a long way to make himself a girl friend.
BA's mold is the only Kingdom BW figure I'd buy more than one of to further expand my "Fate Weaver's" faction/collection. So here's hoping there will be an all black repaint of her courtesy of Walmart's Netflix line later this year.
The more Spiders the merrier:
Yep. He made a spider. FFS. Why is this news? He didnt create BA and just made his own intepretation and reproduction of someone elses work from the original beast wars. man GTFO
Wow thats a really cool car drawing!
Are you sure?
I think you are lying.
I agree, but with less anger.
As usual, any concept art thread has plenty of comments from people who clearly don't know what concept art is.
So, by that token should we not report on the Kingdom toys themselves, since they're just a reproduction of someone else's work?
Well considering the toys have new engineering i would say that its definately not the same. But when all it is is a drawing of a spider, thats very underwhelming. Thats not a concept sketch. Just my 2 cents
Concept art is just that...a concept. There are like 40,000 species of spiders on the planet and they need to tell the people making the models what kinda spider they are going for. Sure, they could just point to a screenshot of Beast Wars and say "One like that", but concept art is part of the development chain, this just happens to be something more real world and so it comes off a bit as "Why even draw that?". But you gotta assign the concept artist to draw the concept first (He's told "Something like Beast Wars" most likely) and so he does that, regardless of whether or not its a real world thing. Then that gets sent to other departments for engineering/modeling. There is a reason why concept art often differs from production - because usually a lot of concessions have to be made to make things work properly. There is a back and forth that happens and a concept doesn't have to be air-tight (in fact, it shouldn't be). Usually they are made to give a FEEL for how something should be, though certainly some concept artists are capable of being a lot tighter and some products end up closer to their concepts than others.
Granted my experience is with video game art pipelines, but it doesn't differ than much from toys.
Many comments here are completely asinine as is to be expected, but come on. Scroll past if it's not of interest to you.
Then where’s the mouth boobs?
Looking at these I suspect the Beasties will all have original 3D models, like Bumblebee, inaccurate to the toys.
