I 100% agree with this. It still has that gritty realistic look but still very robotic at the same time. I like that pink stripe on Arcee. also missile truck Breakdown is awesome. Now This I want....no NEED a toy of. Also Dat Perceptor. It's totally based on the RTS figure but better.
I think they might have taken the idea from FoC, since in that version he was a tank. The game's backstory(what little we know) fits within the Covenant of Primus story.
Megatron, Ratchet, Hound, Prime, and a few others have been seen before, back in November. Why are we acting like these are new. Give me a minute and I'll try to find it.
There are slight detail changes in these ones, such as weapons on Hound's arms. They also have alt-modes behind them.
The aesthetic for these is pretty great, and toys based on these designs would be awesome. Though it seems like they're making every bot into a muscle-bound beefcake body type. (i.e., that's not really how I think of Hound and Ratchet, but even they have very athletic, muscle-y body types.)
I think I figured out the five-step formula for these designs: 1. Take a robot 2. Inflate the limbs and body 3. Taper the body parts at the joints 4. Add a shitload of tech detail and panel lining 5. Paint in monotone colours with just a little accent colour so nobody mistakes it for a tinted greyscale I mean, they're not technically bad, but they're so bland and uninspired. There's nothing unique to them or innovative.
Dammit... I really wanted toys from these game designs. Too bad Hasbro went all out for WFC and FOC there for a minute, but this game never got a thing. Probably because the game went tits up but still. Would have made a few great figures I'm sure. Maybe once Planet X is done with FOC they'll move on to some of these? One can only hope.
Maybe there's a chance that a third party company can give a try on making figures out of the designs.
Cool artwork - though what I'd rather have is some more details about what was going on behind the scenes that resulted in this project being such a disaster at almost every step of the way.
this game had some amazing character artist behind it. its a shame that the game, platform, and execution as a whole was so terrible. its also a shame that if hasbro actually put in the time and investment into a game, they could make something incredible.
I didn't know either but I just looked him up and yes he is. Verified account https://twitter.com/michaelbay
Love all the shared art coming from those involved! Why haven't they gotten permission to release an art book for their work yet?! Even Highmoon Studios managed that. Who wouldn't pay money to own a book with bad @$$ art in it?!
Is there a reason why Prime Arcee never adopted Animated Prowl's leg transformation scheme like the art here and instead of opting to stick a stupid tire on the back in both the animation and toy models?
