Earlier this year, when the news first broke that BotCon would have a Beast Wars theme, my mind began to race with ideas for the convention comic utilising redecoed Combiner Wars toys. I contacted FunPub to see if they'd be open to me pitching them an idea for the comic. Unfortunately, they weren't. But the idea for the story wouldn't leave me alone, so I put pen to paper. The result -- TRANSFORMERS: UNITY. Synopsis: Using their puppets within the Predacon faction to bring the planet to its knees, the Quintessons have returned to reclaim Cybertron. In the streets, Sharkticons run riot, and a small band of Maximals (and one honour-bound Predacon) flee for their lives. But the will of Primus has greater designs for these seven brave Sparks. With Cybertron as the prize, there is more than one play for power at hand. It was a fun little story to put together, especially coming up with another origin story for the Tripredacus Council. As well as featuring the Predacus combiner released at the convention, the story revolves around a team comprised of some very familiar names: Cheetor - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Breakdown Tigatron - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Breakdown Optimus Primal - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Optimus Prime Airazor - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Powerglide Rattrap - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Groove Dinobot - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Off-Road Rhinox - Based on the body of Combiner Wars Rook I've recently teamed up with the very talented artist Zero-Kaiser (Tumblr DeviantArt) to produce the first few pages of the issue. Here's a taste of what lays in store with the designs for Rhinox and Dinobot: Stay tuned for further updates soon. And if you're so inclined, you can read the script for the issue here! Cheers, - Verno.
nice! i remember reading that before (unless i'm thinking of something VERY similar). can't wait for more pics!
Haha, yes I believe you gave the script a read when I first put it online I'll keep this thread updated as more designs pop up in the future.
These look amazing. I'd actually like to own a set of these. My only gripe, and this is subjective of interpretation, is Primal using Optimus' mold. It makes sense but I'd choose Onslaught first. Still, despite this gripe I love the designs of these. Keep up the good work.
It was a toss-up between the two in my mind. If this set ever saw the light of day in toy form, I think both could work well. She's overdue for some attention
Zero-Kaiser will have some more fantastic designs for us to enjoy soon, but here's a little peak at what he's been up to: Rattrap -- based on Combiner Wars Groove.
