A faithful Cyberverse Soundwave would be great, as would a nice Earthspark Soundwave. Those two designs are excellent

So I've been thinking about G1 Quake recently, and how most of us agree it'll probably be a Skullgrin retool. Looking at Quake's alt. mode and comparing it to the Skullgrin on my desk, I think there's a way to make this work?
Here's the worlds worst digibash for context:

    upload_2024-5-17_16-39-7.png

There's pros and cons to this retool. For one, it removes the Pretender sculpting on Skullgrin which should give it much more articulation than Skullgrin has, specifically in the legs and shoulders. Second, Quake could easily have a single centered turret from the Skullgrin mold. There's already a peg right above where the tail is on Skullgrin, so you could retool it and add a new turret base part to make the turret hang over the chest. Third, part of Quake's design is having treads on his legs, so you could tool in front treads onto the alt. mode, making it look better.
As for the bad? The color scheme is really messy in alt. mode. Quake has a very distinct blue chest and a very not-blue tank mode. Since the chest becomes the top of the tank in alt. mode, it means there's a very weird blue splotch right in the middle of the tank. Second, the alt. mode is way too flat compared to his G1 tank mode, making the proportions look all weird.

Overall... I guess it works? Like, the robot mode looks fine, but the alt. mode would need some SERIOUS retooling or it'll look very messy. The real question is why didn't they just shrink down the Earthrise Megs. mold, or do a pretool of the eventual Studio Series TFONE D-16.

so big thing is that the legs are getting retooled to full tank thread and the shoulders are also getting work done other then a head swap not much else is actually changing

I'm just glad Quake got some heavy retooling so the mold actually looks like him. Based on the art, the only parts he shares with Skullgrin are the arms from the bicep down, the feet, the back of the torso, and maybe the inner workings of the lower legs. He's at least 50% new parts.

Either you're nuts or you're doing a pump-and-dump. I'm shorting TR Quake. The G1 toy is also a slab, and TR doesn't have Targetmasters. Sell, sell, sell!

It's not a bad digibash, way better than the shit I did for Straxus lol

As I've suggested before, Quake could be based off the Objekt 490, which means he still gets an Earth alternate mode despite being a retool.

Counterpoint: eyepatches and hook hands are cool
If they do yet another toon styled Arcee, at an even higher price point that we all already know is going to shelfwarm like crazy, that will be the final nail in the coffin to prove to me that Hasbro does not have any clue what its actual, core consumer base wants.

They've been stuck in this rabbit-hole of providing mostly for the perfectionist collectors out there, and have seemingly given up on creating new transformers fans to, idk, actually keep the brand alive in the long run??

Any G1 styled Arcee they make that isn't the new Skybound one with the sick Lamborghini mode is an utter waste of resources IMHO. When will people understand that the sunbow design just can't be implemented faithfully in plastic form without a sizeable backpack (would welcome being proven wrong tho... with the Skybound version)?

Exactly. Not to mention the toon Arcee design just sucks generally.
If they want to do a Voyager Arcee, do it in the mainline as a Comic Universe Arcee based on the recent Skybound design, that's the only Voyager G1 Arcee I'll likely buy. Or do a figure based on the IDW Earthmode design which turns into a tuned up JDM car.

I mean, a hook hand could be cool if done right, like if they used the hexagon hole and made it more detailed

Instead it's literally just a candy cane

Idk if it will shelfwarm but I don’t think it will be what people think it will be in their heads.

Which is ironic cause didn’t he shelf-warm pretty bad? I mean there were still several of him at the Walgreen’s I bought him and PotP Wreck-Gar from

Eh I love the chrimedome mold and any headmaster gimmick mold but it's pretty dated and mine is pretty dang loose. Love it but I'd take an updated version at this point (it's not like ER Ironhide and SS86 Ironhide with ER still being pretty dang good for example).
