That’s fairly typical of most RPG core rulebooks these days, I’m afraid.

 

This is cool, but I don’t think there is enough demand for this. I don’t know enough people who like Transformers enough to sit down and play a TTRPG.
With D&D it is generic enough that anybody can play it and be whatever they want and thats part pf why it’s so appealing to so many. Most people don’t know anything about Tranaformers other then “Toy, 80’s show, and movie where things explode.”

 

I might have to pick a copy of this up. Trying to find an actual group to run this would be next to impossible but I’m more curious about the mechanics of how it plays.

I applaud them for getting this out, but it feels like a product with an incredibly small market. Like if there’s ever more than 2-3 groups around a table and playing this in the world at any one time I’d be absolutely gobsmacked.

 

And if any of the players pick the human companion perk, one is going to implode.

 

I'm ar gencon (official d&d convention(own by hasbro)) and there's a "hard cover" available at the publishers booth. Should I post it here or make a new thread? Might pick it up.

I literally have a Transformers rpg campaign planned out already. Just waiting on the rulebook.

Yep, going to do it with a bunch of my friends/family. Some of them have come up with their characters already.

It seems we overlooked this due to the last rain of news and reveals. Interesting, at first I thought it was related to the previous card game.

 

I have two questions:

1. Can it be used for a Beast Wars game?
2. Is transformation a free action?

These are more rhetorical questions because we probably won't know for sure until the book actually gets released.

 

I would absolutely kill to play this, only difference is i\'d play as Grimlock rather than an OC. What can I say? It\'s been one of my alltime fantasies.

 

this is gonna be the coolest thing, they should make extra rules for combiners, mini-cons and beastformers

1. Yes, there is a blurb regarding Beast modes, but Renegade has a rulebook planned.
2. Converting between two modes is a standard action, but if a player takes a general perk called 'Quick Change' or selects the 'Modemaster' role, which receives the 'Quick Change' perk at level 1, then a player can convert as a free action.
