    Today, in celebration of Top Gun Day, Hasbro and TRANSFORMERS have announced a reissue of the Top Gun Mash-Up, Maverick Robot! With updated packaging and accessories, the Maverick Robot is available for pre-order July 21 exclusively at Walmart.

    Worlds collide in this TRANSFORMERS-Top Gun mash-up pack! The iconic Grumman F-14 Tomcat jet from the original Top Gun film is a TRANSFORMERS robot, called MAVERICK (not to be confused with that other guy)! Who makes a better wingman than a TRANSFORMERS robot? MAVERICK stands at 7 inches in robot mode and can convert from robot to classic Grumman F-14 Tomcat jet mode in 25 steps. He includes a screen-inspired miniature motorcycle accessory. This bot is always ready to go vertical in jet mode. This Maverick robot figure also features folding jet wings, movie-inspired details, a helmet design inspired by the 2022 Top Gun: Maverick film, and 4 missile accessories that can be mounted on the figure’s arms in robot mode, and under wings in jet mode.

    Can they make him out of a nicer looking grey plastic? I'd probably buy him if they did that, but I'm still very on the fence as he is.

    (Also, you know the drill for every time this mold comes up, Jetfire and Cyberjet remolds please.)

    it says updated accessories, but im only seeing stuff that was there before.
    except the vollyball and accompanying hands.
    did...did they get rid of the best part of the figure?

    The images look identical to the ones for the original release of the figure so I'm hoping these aren't the correct ones, and that the reissue will use a better looking plastic in addition to apparently having different accessories.

    Be nice if they did, the initial promo pics showed a prototype in cool grey which would’ve been more accurate.

    Wouldn’t mind a repaint with Iceman’s Fist of the Fleet squadron logos and
    Darkstar markings from the Top Gun Maverick movie

    Even though I already own a copy of Maverick, it’s still nice to see this toy get a reissue!

    It has one of the worst paint jobs in recent memory. It really does hold the figure back alot.

    All everyone ever talks about is the paint job. Yeah it's bad but let's talk about the figure itself too.

    It's a pretty great figure and carries with it a lot of Macross vibes. Whether that's a plus or minus is up to you. Transformation is fun and clever and the headsculpt knocks it out of the park. Weapons are pretty decent, and they're also the drop tanks for alt mode. Articulation is very good!

    If you want a good transforming F14 toy with an official Northrop Grumman license, this is right up your alley.

    Wish they had gotten a better paint job for this version, but I eventually regretted passing on this figure so I'll probably try to get him this time.

    It's a pretty fun mold. Like others have said, the paint job isn't great but you can look past it from just the fun it presents imo

    kinda surprised they didn't work out an F-18 version for the new movies release.

    (also Hasbro: still waiting for my Skystriker redeco... would have been a much better first G.I. Joe Collab then that HISS tank abomination)

    I'd like to support a jet mode this clean but the plastic and paint were not improved from the first release at all so pass

    The hands on the original sucked, they bent down and could not hold anything straight. I wonder if they fixed that?

    Here's my head canon for this guy:
    E.D.C. experimenting with Decepticon cadavers leftover from their planetary invasion in AHM. Remember them cloning Ramjet & Thrust? This'd be the final evolution of that project, which, continued in secret. Their goal being to engineer the fastest flight capable Transformer ever created, whose totally loyal to humanity. The scientific team were big fans of 80s movies, thus, explaining Maverick's name & motif. How fast is he? Quicksilver Time In A Bottle scene fast. He came online post-Unicron crisis. Nowadays performs stealth missions for an E.D.C. splinter cell operating from the shadows...
