Statistically speaking, it only serves as an indicator as to how it will play among the most diehard TF fans, specifically those with a computer and enough interest to bother posting. That translates to a very small percentage of the movie going population.

The question then is how much our tastes reflect those of the general public. Those who don't know TFs obviously won't be bothered, but they are unlikely to go see the film anyway.

Sorta-fan adults? Depends on how well they remember the original toys and cartoons, and how much they care. Gotta remember there was always a discrepency between toys and cartoons, especially in the most classic G1 era of 84-85.

Kids? Hard for me to read them. They are, obviously, less attatched to what has come before. It may depend on what they have. If they have never known TFs, they'll be okay. But if they are expecting to see in the movie what they have in their toy shelf, they're likely to be thrown off or maybe turned off (I remember as a kid being confused by the discrepencies between cartoon Hulk and live action Hulk).

good god...I'm gone for a week and look what happens! News a-go-go...and this thread is already at 79 pages?!?

I don't mind these at all...in fact I rather like Optimus, Blackout, Scorponok and Bumblebee.

Megatron looks a little odd, as does Starscream...but I will wait and see the movie and the toys in person before I make any final judgements

Wait, there are people on here who actually LIKE Transformers? I thought this was like some AA club for people who hate everything about giant robots. Especially hip kibble. Hip Kibble Anonymous is what they should call this site.

Someone already mentioned the statistical problems with your statement.

I'd like to add the fact that, all other things being equal, people with negative comments are more likely to post them then people with positive comment. So I wouldnt take that as a true ratio regardless.

    Well said!

That, and it seems like there's a few that repeat their negative comments, over, and over, and over, etc.......

when i saw the designs i was physically sick.
i just read the script and it blew me away.
i guess what i'm trying to say is i think it's better to have a film with the designs changed and a great script than a film that is 100% faithfull to g1 designs with a crap script.

It's not supposed to be an "UPDATED" version, but an all new version.

It's not an all new version, it's an all new toyline, based on an all new movie that just happens to be called Transformers. Haven't you noticed?
